  1. Thanks, I have interviews set up at UCLA, Hoag, and Blue Cross. I also will call Ventura county when Im there, got a reply for interview, but it was late friday when the mail came. I will call monday. Thanks, I dont mind that kind of population, we have a lot of that in Salinas, low income, no pnc, etc. Good luck to you.
  2. Less than 1 week to go. Whats in Austin? Is anyone going to have a car to sightsee on our 3 day time off? I have 2 big suitcases, backpak and purse. I could not fit all the army clothes in 1.
  3. I was thinking of applying there too, but asked someone how the area is and they didnt think it was very good. I noticed there are a few open l&D noc positions too, Im a L&D nurse. I was also going to need a roommate if I worked there.
  4. Im moving to Souther Ca soon wondered if anyone working in UCLA, HOAG, or other hospitals down there. Im looking for labor & delivery in a nice area with lots of things to do. What cities should I stay away from, such as gang land???
  5. HI, COme to the Bay Area, Cali. We get $$$$$$$$$ here. Im experienced RN about 12 yrs and making 80k+/yr working part-time, 7/10. High cost of living though so you have to weigh it out. Lots to do and beautiful area. Most have CNA union with great pay.
  6. Is anyone willing to wait until 1318 to share a taxi over to OBC. Please let me know, plane times are usually earlier or later than planned anyway. Maybe we can share cell numbers. If anyone has yahoo instant messenger, message me. You already know the name:yeah::typing:jester:

  12. Hi, Anyone going to OBLC for reserves on Aug. 14 to Sept. 9th? I am going, coming from Cali.
  13. Im a RN who has 10 yrs med-surg float pool experience which covers adults and kids over 3yrs. Im in a EMT class right now, because I want to do Paramedic and nursing. I feel that I need to learn the basics of pre-hospital care before I can become a paramedic. THe school told me I could challenge the EMT, and just start my internship for paramedic. I do not feel that my experience in the hospital for 10yrs, would be enough for emergency care. Sure I know alot of what I am learning, but there is so much I dont know. I have never had to load a pt on a stretcher, when EMT's come to my flooors to pick up pts, they do all that. I have never had to arrive on the highway to find body parts all over at 2am. Sure I can challenge both tests, but what good would that do me for any experience? This is the same for some nursing programs who do not require the applicant to become a nursing assistant first. I believe in learning the basic fundamentals before doing any higher level of learning. We just did our 1st test in EMT for chapters 1-6, I got 91%, so It always helps to keep learning!!!! We have a anatomy/phis teacher, who is also a chiropractor. He said he needs his EMT for some certification to teach. Soooooooooooo, its always good to learn more!!!
  14. Maybe that is for new grads, but I know several nurses who moved there and then back here, due to wages way less than what they were paid up here. I just guess it depends on where, who, etc.
  15. oops, that was $31/hr for new nurses
