  1. Hi Mokeen, I will be starting in January as well (FNP) and was wondering what your specialty is. Are you excited?
  2. Has anyone received an admission decision for the Jan. 2011 traditional MSN program at Boston college? Thanks.
  3. I am foreign born nurse and I recently completed a second degree accelerated program for non-nurses. While I understand that it can feel extremely uncomfortable listening and sitting in the midst of other co-workers speak in their native languages, yet still I believe they have the right to interact with each other in their language of choice and of course not during patient interactions. It is amazing that it is okay for nurses from this country to speak in English and use curse words when they are upset with a situation, and form their own "clicky" group because that is in line with "being American." Additionally, there is no bias towards the enrollment of foreign born US nursing students especially when we are all aware that they went through the same rigorous application process. Hopefully, the experiences of the compliant will highlight the difficulties that arise when one feels out of place; fate foreign born individuals continue to face in this country. It is imperative that we all learn and understand that cultural differences are supposed to be exhilarating and not fearful. I spent my formative years outside this country surrounded until college by individuals from 62 different countries (comprised of diverse races) and I never knew what discrimination was until I came to this country. However, I channeled my experiences into a positive attitude and I have continued to act as I did in my childhood (avoid seeing color and race) when things do not go my way and rather try to address the issue at hand.
  4. I think you can write the exam in any state; just remember that NY state will issue your license. I actually called pearsonvue because i wanted to take the test in RI because there were no dates available on the days i wanted to test in MA and the rep. communicated the above information to me. Take care!
  5. Hi Congrats on taking the test and you can reduce your anxiety by using the pearsonvue trick. All the best.
  6. Hi Lilac, Congrats on taking the test. Could you please share some insight as to what content area you had on your exam although i am aware that it varies from test to test. Also how did you prepare for the exam, did you use kaplan and what would you have done differently to study for this exam in hindsight. Looking forward to the good news soon :). Enjoy your first day of no studying.
  7. Hi and congrats on taking the test. I am scheduled to test shortly in MA and like you ladies i am using Kaplan. Could you let me know if Kaplan was helpful and what else you could have done to prepare yourself more for this exam by using Kaplan. I have not taken kaplan trainer 6 and 7 yet but my scores are as follows Diagnostic=63 1=64 2=63 3=65 4=58 5=67 Readiness score =74. Take care!
  8. Lil mama could you please let me know if Kaplan was a good guide for the exam you took today. Thanks a lot and congrats on completing the exam.
  9. Lil Mama .......Hi Congrats on taking the exam. I am using Kaplan and scheduled to take the exam shortly and was wondering if you could let me know if kaplan was helpful. Take care and look forward to your good news shortly.
  10. Congrats on your acceptance Saraphin. I am currently in the program and will be done in May. I will encourage you to take a look at rustic village apartments in Brighton and it is about 10 mins drive with traffic to school. Let me know if you have any other questions.
  11. Hi, I graduated with my B.S from Carolina and the nursing program is definately difficult to get into. I believe the 14 month program is however more competitive than the 24 month program. They have also increased enrollment for both programs and this definately increases your chances of getting in. I am rooting for you and i hope you get to become a "TARHEEL" soon. Lilaclady
  12. congrats, Could you give me an idea of your stats. Wow! Good luck in your future studies.
  13. Thanks a lot for your input. I definately think that the program is expensive and i am hoping that all goes well for each and every one of us.
  14. Hi, I was wondering if there is anyone applying to University of Rochester 2nd degree program(BSN). Additionally, i would appreciate any info on how easy/ hard it is to get in as well as any relevant info individuals might be willing to share.
  15. Hi nurse2b63, I intend on applying for the accelerated BSN program in 2007 and i was wondering if you might be interested in sharing your entry grade as well as how difficult/easy it is to get into the program. Additionally, did you take any of the science summer classes? Thanks a lot.
