  1. thx Cath. The program in my area is a 112 hr course in 3 weeks. your's was a 3 mth course. Does it matter. I am planning on this traing not only as a source of income but a way of gaining hospital exp. during my RN schooling. What was the job market like for one with this training? Would my chances be improved if I show proof of being in an RN program? vbmenu_register("postmenu_1669162", true);
  2. I'll be taking a 3 week program at at a nurse adide training school. I was told over the phone that there will both be clinicals and clasroom classes. I was told its mon - thurs 10am to 3pm everyday. i was told that at the end of the program I will be qualified to take the nursing aide board exams. My questions are Are there anyone here who has gone through such a program at any traing school? If yes what was your experience? What are my chances of getting a job? I plan on working part time during my RN schooling. Are such institutes good in training nurses assistant? I ask this because cittone's medical assistance program is 9 mths while this one is 3 weeks. I can only do a summer program before the fall semester begins. Cittone program is medical assistant while this one is nurses assistance. What is the difference?

  4. What does Accent have to do with how well you perform your duties? i do not think it will or does. I have a non American and I am proud of it. What is Accent? Is it not a foreign way of ennuciating and pronouncing words. So called Accent neutral speaking Tv prsenters in America, Britain etc would be categorised as having and accent in Australia or Norway. My point is everyone has an accent aven native english speakers.
  5. I want to work in the 'field' not a hospital. I mean work in for an Internartional Org. like Doctors Without Borders (Can't spell the French official name) that post medical staff to conflict areas and Projects like fighting AIDS in places like Congo, Darfur, Indonesia etc. I guess I'll have to have Hospital EXP. That would be Probably LTC or Nursing home.
  6. You are in your mid 40's so I do not know if you will feel comfortable doing this. I know a couple of people who take part clinical studies/trials at hospitals of drug development companies. I am told on the average, an inpatient study of about 4 days could pay up to 1,500. That involves several needle sticks a cartheter in you during the duration. I guess one can't be like me afraid of needles. They do this during the summer, winter and the one week spring and fall breaks. During the semester they do outpatient studies which pay considerably less. But it can be seen as money to buy school supplies.
  7. Thanks. My eyes are now clear on how to proceed. I'll post my findings. thanks
  8. Hi there. I'm doing a chemistry project at school in which I am investigating the Iron content of different soft drinks, the problem is, I do not know of one that contains iron, or rather says that it contains iron. This is an assignment in the US, so does anyone know any soft drinks that are available to me with iron(III) in them? I'm using thiocyanate indicator and colorimetry to detect it. Also, what could the significance of the iron in the soft drink be, My teacher says its important in our red-blood cells, and I could possibly even relate the subject to anaemia. Does anyone know of any liquid iron supplements that anaemics take, as opposed to pills etc. ?? Thank you for any help you can provide.
  9. I don't have an F right now. I think I just wanted a way to lift my spirits with the onw W I have.
  10. Just curious to know if anyone has applied and gotten accepted with a W or F grade. I'm thinking it is similar to an elephant passing through the eye of a needle for a one F grade student to get in. I'm I wrong? I have a W which was due to being hospitalised for 2 weeks and had followups and physio therapy sessions. I decided to reduce my course load for that semester. Can I ssend my medical records or letter explaining the W with my application?
  11. Hi am new here. I am going to CCP for nursing. I am taking the prerequisites to apply after fall 06 semester. I want to know if any other CCP students here. can they share their experiences about the program? Will you recommend it to me or anyone? Do they have waiting lists? I have high GPA. Am I almost certain of getting in then. What hospitals do you have your clinicals. What is the sequence of clinicals, practicals and in class. Thanks
