Where were u 9/11/01?
I was driving in to the hospital for a stress test. My son was born 12 days later. All I wanted to do was get home and get the rest of my children home safely.

Age when you had your first child?
#1 - 20 #2 - 24 #3 - 27 #4 - 36 #5 - 38 They all got the best of me and the worst of me. I probably had more energy with the older ones and more patience with the younger ones. My biggest challenge is meeting all their various needs. I've nursed both younger children at many baseball games and cheerleading tournaments. They get dragged around wherever the older ones need to go. The "babies" are adored by the older children.

NICU nurse-this is what I want to be! (some questions about it)
I'm starting nursing school this fall. I had some pre reqs and A&P I and II online. New York has a state college program that offers a lot of classes online. In my particular online "class" there were students from all over the world. Good luck!

What do patients say that irks you?
I always felt defensive when a nurse would ask me why I was being induced. My doctor and I decided together to be induced with my last three children when he felt the baby could be delivered safely. It was hard explaining that my sister had three stillborn babies and that due to similiar complications in my second pregnancy, we were concerned with the family history. I know it's not the best choice, but if a patient is being induced hasn't it already been decided by the physician? I would think he/she would make such a decision based on the patient's medical history, etc. I'm new here and just starting as a student so please don't flame me.
