  1. I am planning on moving back to LA soon and it would be great if anyone could give me insight to good, or bad places to work. I am a Med/Surg nurse, 4 yrs experience, looking to work either part time or per diem.(I have a 6 month old baby) I worked at UCLA 3 years ago, it was my first nursing job, busy place. I am interested to know of any sign on bonuses, incentives, pay rates, working conditions, anything that would steer me in the right direction. What about travel nursing, any advice? Right now im working at Robert Wood Johnson, NJ, we did have a per diem program that paid $53-60 an hr,(now that summer is over its back down to $32-37 an hr) would love to find that kind of money in LA. I am a hard worker, not a complainer, and love being a nurse. Any and all advice, tips, ect. will be so greatly appreciated, and who knows, maybe I will get to meet some of you when I get out there! Thanks!!
  2. I am studying now for the test which I will take on May 18th. I listened to the tape course from the ANCC which was good, but cost $280.00 and was dated 1998. I am also using ALL my books from when I was in school. There is so much to study, I hope I pass. I too would appreciate any tips anyone has to offer. The test cost around $300.00 to take, and if I fail, my job wont reimburse me. I have been studying since February, I try to study 4 days a week for at least 2 hrs when I wake up.(some days I just cant stand to do it though.) I have been a nurse for only 3 years and Im worried that might hinder my knowledge, the stuff I really remember happens on the job. Good Luck to anyone else who takes the test!
