  1. I have been trying to find white bobby pins to secure a nursing cap. I have found places where I can order them from sites that make Christian Hair Coverings; however, there isn't anything else that I am interested in ordering and would have to pay $5 to ship a card of bobby pins. Does anyone know where I can purchase White bobby pins online? Maybe a uniform or nursing supply place? A beauty supply place? Where I might find something else to order since I will have to pay for shipping? Help!

  4. I graduated from school in May 2006 and passed my NCLEX-RN in June. I started my new job towards the end of May 2006. We spent the first two weeks of our orientation in a classroom. When I went to the floor, no one showed me where anything was, I had to figure it out myself. I really don't feel that I have received a good preceptorship or training. Maybe it is just me, that I am not sure. I have worked at the hospital for almost 3 years, but not in the department that I am currently working in. Maybe they expect me to know more than I do about the facility. I am really struggling with my new job. I was a good student. I was also a paramedic for several years. I am now at the point that I wonder if I have made a bad decision to be a nurse. I cry most nights after work. I hate it so far. I am staying over my shift sometimes for 2 hours to get my charting done. I am working on the medical/surgical unit of my hospital. I can't seem to get everything done. I am in charge of sometimes 7 patients. It can even be up to 10 patients when I go to nights. I am absolutely overwhelmed with 6 patients. How do you experienced nurses keep track of your patients? How do you set up your "brains"? I have so many papers. I have trouble keeping track of everyone. My coworkers state that my assessments take too long. I just like to be thorough and talk to my patients. It also takes forever for me to chart. We use computer charting. I have to get used to that program too. When I state at work that I can't handle another patient, they simply say, "You have to!". They also say, "you have to get faster". I was also told by one of the charge nurses as I left one night, "When you come to nights and are here until 11AM charting, you arent going to want to come back even when you have too!". Help. How can I try to survive this job? I have to remain within the company due to signing a contract to get money for school.
  5. I date a doctor. He is a wonderful man. Yes, a lot of the docs fool around, but mine is the least likely to do so. He is intelligent. I can also talk with him about my job, he has the same since of humor, and when I have a medical questions, he knows the answer. One of the pitfalls of dating a doctor is his hours at work. We seem to work opposite shifts a lot and he has very long hours. He works night shift, so when he is off, he is sleeping during the day. Another draw back is that I used to work with him. We loved working together. When I finished nursing school and was supposed to be hired in the same dept, I was not hired since we were dating. I had to find another job elsewhere, which I hate. I would never date a doctor because of his profession. I date my man because of who he is, not because of his job or the money he makes.
  6. 1.Type of nurse? I am an RN with an associate degree. I work on the medical/surgical unit of the hospital. 2. How many hours u work per week? I am scheduled for 36 hours a week. We work 12 hours shifts. We are supposed to get a 30 min., upaid lunch. We are also supposed to get 2, 15 min. breaks, which I never take. I am a new nurse and have trouble getting everything finished within my shift, so I am staying over an hour to two hours every time I work. 3. How many years of nursing? I have been an RN for about a month. 4. What Shift: Day, Evening, nights, or weekend only? I am still on orientation. I am working day shift which is 7am until 7pm (although we cannot leave until the end of reports and rounding at 7:30pm). I will be working nights when off orientation. 5. City and State Elkins, WV 6. Average 2 week gross pay My gross pay on my last paycheck was: $1320.90 Thanks
