  1. Thank you! That was helpful.
  2. Thanks for that. I am from Arkansas, but living abroad. My sister was telling me that this is actually new legislature that has been passed.
  3. Can anyone tell me if there have been new laws passed recently in Arkansas that will allow MD's in med clinics to hire non medical personnel to give meds/injections. Thank you. LavaRN
  4. I was an LPN for a long time, and went back to school in Melbourne. I got a BSc Nursing in two and half years. After graduation I took the NCLEX in Sydney, so I have registration here in Melb, and am licensed in Arkansas as well. There is a huge nurse shortage here, just like in the US. You should definitely check out the nursing board (Victoria), or you can go through a nursing agency, and they can help you. Good luck! lavaRN :)
  5. Hello, I am from Arkansas, and have been living in Melbourne for five years. I am an RN, I doubt you will have any trouble getting registered here. You can find out a lot of information from the Nursing Board of Victoria website, and if you need more info, ring them. Good luck to you, and enjoy AU! LavaRN
  6. Congratulations!!! :balloons:
  7. Pedar72, It's strange thinking back to the NCLEX, it seems like so long ago. I thought the whole experiece was stressful, towards the end of the exam I found it to be harder and harder. I wish you the best of luck! Vanessa Arkansas, USA and Melbourne, Australia
  8. i think student nurses on clinicals should be getting paid...$11.00 an hour sounds good for that!! lava rn
  9. have you used kaplan's book and studied how to take the exam? i think that is key to passing. maslow's, abc's, management, etc. i just tried to remember that the nclex is the perfect nursing world. take a break when you need to, and breathe. good luck and let us know how you go on the next one! lavarn
  10. susieok, good luck on your exam in april! i was unable to get my results online, but my state board of nursing emailed my results to my home in the us. i took my test on wednesday in sydney, and my paper results were at my house in arkansas on friday! a family member rang and let me know that my results had arrived. i passed!!! what a relief to have that over with. if you live in sydney, it shouldn't be too stressful for you. i had to fly in from melbourne, and spend the night in sydney. the test centre is very professional, and everyone was really nice. you have to be fingerprinted, and have your photo taken once you are checked in. i definitely recommend that you use the earplugs that are offered, it was a bit noisy. take your time, read the questions, read all the options, breathe...and try to relax. i did 265 questions in three hours, but looking back i wish i had taken my time. again, good luck! lavarn - australia and the usa
  11. i passed with 265 questions. my results were 'snail' mailed to me, and i received them two days after taking my exam. everything is dated the day i took my exam...soooooooo...they knew that day. good luck to everyone taking the nclex and waiting for results. lavarn
  12. congratulations!! it feels good doesn't it? wooohoooo! lavarn
  13. Contact the Illionis State Board of Nursing. You can probably look online and find out what you need to do to get started. I live in Australia, and downloaded all the paperwork I needed from my state boards website. Good luck!
  14. *hugs* ... hang in there, i knew a girl that passed on her sixth try. i used kaplan too, and spent alot of time studying how to take the exam. don't give up!!! lava rn
  15. just in case this might help anyone else... i used kaplan to study; the book and the cd. i was getting frustrated with the questions, and getting a lot of them wrong. so, i decided to begin studying how to take the exam. kaplan's book is great for this... maslow's, abc's, safety, management...what is the question really asking, and how to find the answer. this really was the 'key' for me. good luck to everyone preparing to take the nclex, it's really not as bad as we make it out to be. remember to breathe during your exam, and take a break when you can. lavarn
  16. thanks for the congrats...it is such a relief to have that behind me.
  17. hello, i passed the nclex!!! i have been a lpn in arkansas for over 15 years, and then i moved to australia in 2003. i enrolled at a university in melbourne, and completed my bsc nursing in dec. 2005. i just took the nclex in sydney on feb. 14th., and received my results from the ar state board (by snail mail) today!! i had all 265 questions, and they were sooooo hard, i just knew that i had failed. good luck to everyone taking the nclex. lava rn - australia and the usa !!
  18. hello susieok, i have been studying kaplan's book, and taking the test from the books dvd. i have been concentrating on how to take the test, because i think that is a big key to the exam. as soon as i received my att from the state board i had applied to, i set up my exam at pearson vue. i am living in melbourne, so i have to fly to sydney to take the exam, hopefully i will be able to relax and just go and get the job done! good luck to you. lavarn
  19. Hello, I am scheduled to take the NCLEX on 14/2/07 and was wondering if anyone had been to the Pearson Vue Centre in Sydney. I am just wondering what to expect, and I would love to hear from anyone that passed on their first try. LavaRN
  20. have you been told by one of the state boards that you have to do the extra courses in ob, peds, and psych ? lava rn
  21. I just received my ATT and noticed that it's only valid for three months...for some reason I thought it was good for a year. What happens if you have to retake the exam? Do you get another ATT? Thank you, Australian educated American girl.
  22. i am a rn div 1 from the us, and now living in melbourne. i have recently applied for a position at a general practice clinic, and i am trying to get a 'feel' for the attitude towards practice nurses in au. it seems that there are not many positions available at clinics, and i would like to hear from someone that is currently doing this type of nursing in au. thanks! vanessa
  23. i am a nurse from the us, and i have been living in melbourne for three years. i would be happy to help you if i can. lava rn arkansas to melbourne
  24. i am from the us, but currently live in melbourne. i am registered as a rn div 1 with the nurses board of vic. i am very interested in psych nursing, and would like to go back to school and get a post grad diploma in mental health nursing. but, i am a little confused about the process...i seem to need a diploma in mental health to get a job, but i want to start working in psych while i pursue my diploma. i would appreciate any suggestions. thank you, lava rn
  25. i am considering looking for a clinical job. i worked in the us for a group of ob/gyn doctors and loved my job! is it possible to get a job working for a doctor in au? and if so, what are the typical duties of a clinic nurse here? lava rn arkansas to melbourne :)
