  1. I use to work with 4 patients for day shift and 6 patients for night shift.
  2. But you know what I found out with all the nursing jobs I had. They sound so good, but in reality things change.
  3. Has anyone in Ontario or Canada for that matter, taken the Critical Care Nursing E-Learning graduate certificate program. I am just wondering how it would be if I took it while working full time. :)
  4. Thank you for the replies. I am planning to make my way up north for orientation in a isolated nursing station. :):roll
  5. Thanx for the reply. Well, I guess its always the unexpected eh? Whats agency nursing? I've met some nurses who I have worked with in a Nursing Station and they were agency nurses. One nurse was saying she works all over Canada for weeks at a time. Eventually, I'd like to work either in Nunuvat or NWT.
  6. Hello. Just wondering what types of questions would be likely asked in an job interview for outpost nursing? Any nurses out there doing outpost nursing right now. I'd like to hear from them.
  7. I studied for the CRNE using the competances noted in the CRNE Guide. The competances that I needed to work on is the areas I concentrated on. I found the exam like a mental workout. Time went to fast. But overall, I guess its what you have retained and what you know from Nursing School.
  8. I've always wondered about that myself. It is something I would like to do later on in life. :)
  9. I know the feeling - "alone", when you are away from family. Leaving family for a career/job is not what I would like to do again. On my shifts off, I felt like I had nothing to come home to. I left my children with my parents so I can adjust to another place for a nursing job. When I think about it, I don't think I would have done it that way. Even though the job was awesome. But I say, you got to look after yourself and whats important for you first over other things.
  10. Hi! Just wanted to know how other RN's are managing single parenting young children while working shift work? Cause I don't know how people can do it? Just want to hear how others have done that? I have an 8 year old son. :)
  11. I got my news this past Monday. I passed. AMEN!!!!
  12. I am waiting as well. Getting nervous/scared/excited about it. I'm in Ontario; so I don't know when we should be recieving our results for the June 7th exam? GOOD LUCK to all who did the CRNE!!
  13. Yes I wrote the exam too this past Wednesday. I felt like I was running a marathon mentally. I found it difficult to concentrate in the morning. Afternoon wasn't that bad. This was my third attempt at the exam. So I am hoping to have passed the exam this time. How is the passing grade determined anyways? Is it with the group we write with or is it the whole province?
  14. Well thank you for the posting. It really encourages me. Sometimes, thats what one needs. :) Thank you!
  15. I'd like to say thank you to all the people that helped me out here. I am writing the exam next week. Pray for me :) I think I have anxiety in terms of the exam. But anyways. One question at a time. :) :chair:
  16. I have a silly question.............for the short answer section of the CRNE.....does it matter if we write our answers in lower case? Because it says that we need to write in BLOCK LETTERS??? Anyone???
  17. Has anyone used the text Mosby's guide to the Canadian RN exam and the Short Answer Guide for the CRNE?
  18. I believe each MC questions are 3 points each...and SA questions are 3,2,1 points. I failed by a few points too. CNA sends you a summary of where you are weak and you should concentrate on that for your studying. That's what I've been doing.
  19. Yes, I wrote in Feb. Got results early. Got my bad news early.
  20. I wrote in February; so, I found out I was unsuccessful in my exam a couple weeks ago. Saunders for NECLEX-RN....will look into. Thank you.
  21. Hello! CRNE exam info; access the web site Canadian Nurses' Association. And the CRNE & NCLEX....I'm not sure how much equivalent the two exams are. :)
  22. A yahoo CPNE group? I wonder if there is such a one for Canadian Registered Nurse Exam --- ??? Anyone?
  23. I don't know if my posting went on. Sorry if my postings comes on twice. Well. I failed my CRNE twice. I really thought at both times that I had passed. I am failing by a few points. And wondering if anyone could give me further advice. I studied with the CRNE prep guide. I thought it would of been sufficient enough. But I guess it wasn't, on my case. I know it's easier for some to pass and while others it's a challenge. In Nursing school; I did well. B+ to A's....so I am wondering, whats wrong with me>>> Pressure is on for me; this will be my last time to write it. So any advice will help me. I plan to write in June or August.
  24. From researching; I've found out that the cost of living is quite expensive. But if you really want to work there; things come into place. I am interested in working up there too.
