I have been VERY happy with Supplemental Health Care - my recruiter got my info together and submitted me, even though I called after she had submitted 14 others for the same job - and I got it! My direct deposit took effect the first week, even faster than promised, and they've been excellent about returning my calls and addressing my concerns. On the other hand, last year I had a less-than stellar experience with Aureus - can't recommend them at all, sorry to say. Plan ahead, don't take things for granted, ask questions, be prepared to work hard and frequently get the assignments no one else wants - you might just like them, I've found I do! And don't forget to have fun ;>

someone wanted to know what happened, so i'll just say what i've been told: especially until this is cleared up and certainly after it is, i can't explain what happened here - i tried, and the admin folks were on the ball & pointed out that this site respects & preserves anonymity, and i was @ risk of identifying myself. so, i'll just say i was accused of something that, IF i HAD done it, would have been unprofessional and rude. i did NOT do it, so am fighting to clear things up - got a call from the BON saying it will take months, which is discouraging, but i have faith, and this site helps a LOT - you guys ROCK!

I'm sorry if you couldn't make it through the shift without texting, but much sorrier for your patients and co-workers. I turn my cell phone off while I'm on the floor, and use it to check voice mail, text, whatever, during breaks. If I don't have time for a break, I sure as #@$% don't have time to text! Hooray for everybody who's been backing up "questionsforall!"

Yes, I realize you can't recommend anyone - again, I was looking for feedback from anyone who's had a similar experience, and maybe even the name of someone who had been helpful. Having seen descriptions of others' problems, I'm trying to stay within guidelines but reach out for support at the same time. Thanks for your time and attention.

I hope someone (or more) of you can help me - I've always appreciated how much help people get from this site. I need the name of an experienced attorney who can help me with the Missouri Board of Nursing. I was working as a travel nurse at a hospital in St. Louis, but now I'm in Philadelphia. I worked as a paralegal before I went to nursing school, and in my experience the best way to find a good attorney is by recommendation, so that's why I'm asking this group. I do understand that no one can guarantee results, and I'm not asking for a legal opinion, just any names from anyone who might have had a similar experience. Thanks in advance, and I do miss St. Louis - it was a very good place for my first travel assignment!

i've gotta agree with the folks who make time for their patients. it IS easy to get stuck in the nurses' station, but it's also true that those who do so most often aren't prioritizing their time on the floor with their patients. you CAN spend time with your patients, although the techs will, too. that's why i enjoyed being a tech while i was getting my BSN, and i'm glad i spent my first 2.5 years as a new grad doing med-surg, since my psych patients don't leave their COPD, diabetes, etc., at the door of the locked acute unit when they're in psychiatric meltdown. as for those who've left psych, i can see why. i've just started doing travel nursing in psych, and already i see things that i took for granted at my old unit are not available to patients on other units in other states. but there's still such a chance to make a difference, and i see it every day. in the end, you need to decide for yourself what's best for you, and one of the best ways to do that can be to work on different units, which having your RN license still makes possible. it used to be that the only jobs new grads could get were on med-surg units, and the experience, just in assessing and communicating with patients, docs and co-workers, made better-rounded nurses. while i didn't enjoy med-surg at the time, i have been eternally grateful for the increased confidence it gave me when i came back "home" to psych. so, follow your heart, and see where you land - then let the rest of us know how you like it
