Pharmacology flash cards
Yes yes yes! I would definitely get the flash cards and study them. We weren't allowed to have preprinted cards in school. All of ours had to be hand written and writing them really helped me remember them.

Online intersession pharmacology
I've done some research and have been unable to find a intersession class. I think I'm just going to buy a pharm workbook and do it on my own. Anyone have a suggestions for books?

Online intersession pharmacology
Does anyone know of an online pharmacology class during Winter intersession? I'm currently going in my last year of nursing school and my biggest weak spot is pharm. I really need to brush up on it before advanced Med surg and the NCLEX. Thanks!

Any UH Hilo Grads or Students?
We started off with 30 students and are down to about 21. There are 3 teachers that teach the class so we're split into groups of 10. The first year semester teachers are Sharon Moran, Katy James, and Pam Vicente. It'll be the same next year. Clinicals are done mostly at Hilo Hospital and go in 5 week rotations between teachers. So you're not stuck with the same clinical instructor all semester. Which i really like because it give you different perspectives. There is A LOT of work involved out of class. Second semester is A LOT more work then first semester and most people say it's the hardest semester. Clinicals are from 6:30 till about 2ish one day a week first semester and 2 days a week second. Clinincls can be really really nerve racking but the more prepared you are the easier they are. UH Hilo is working on a bridge program so people who graduate from the ADN program can get credit towards there BSN. It not done yet but i know it should be in the next year or so. I'm not sure what i'm going to to when i'm done but I do know i want to continue on with my education just not sure where.

Any UH Hilo Grads or Students?
Hey Janelle, Congradulations!! I really like the HCC program. All the teachers are great and it's a really positive learning environment. It's challenging but not intimating like some of the other programs I've heard about. I would definitely recommend it. It's nice because the class sizes are small and you really get the one on one attention that makes all the difference. Good luck with your decision! Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Care plan
I'm stuck on this care plan! My patient 80yrs old admitted for Pneumonia with pleural effusion and exacerbated CHF. 10yr Hx of paraplegia which he seems to have overcome to a great degree. I got him as a patient the day he was discharged. All his VSS were normal, lungs were clear, heart rate regular, no visual signs of respiratory distress. He needed minimal assistance with showering because he was in the hospital and was not familiar with the shower but besides that he was completely able to carry out his own ADL's. I was thinking self care deficit for bathing related to environmental barriers as evidenced by patient stating "I'm not use to this shower and am going to need some help" I'm just feeling that there was not very much intervention needed and i'm making somthing up just for the careplan. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!!

Do you study from your text books ?
We get pp also and unit objective. I rarely crack the book. Mostly use it as a reference and supplement to the lectures. All our test are NCLEX format so reading the book really dosen't help for the test.
