Sorry to hear that. One thing I did that may help you is going back through the material as they had advised and be able to lecture on it. I understand this will not work for everybody but I do believe mastering the core content is the key. Good luck for the next round.

Early decels - begin with the contraction and end when the contraction ends; the lowest point of the FHR should come at the peak of the contraction Late decels - decels that begin after the onset of the contraction and continue after the contraction ends Variable decels - unpredictable decels that do not follow either of the patterns above Remember: Early decels are ok, generally indicate compression on the head during contraction Late decels are bad, generally indicate uteroplacental insufficiency Variable decels are also bad, generally indicate cord compression Remember, decels are a decrease in FHR. The thing to be concerned about is HR ELV -- early late variable HPC -- head placenta cord That above is how i remembered mine for tests and it always worked for me. The thing to take into consideration is that other factors play a role in FHR - drugs, position, congenital defects, etc. Study up - I had a question on NCLEX about FHR and decels!

For anyone out there wondering about the Hurst Review, I took that course in December and passed the NCLEX on the first try two days ago. I thought it was a great program and very well focused for the NCLEX. It was pricey, $350, but I felt it was well worth it. Good luck to all you who are soon to test.

I stopped at 75, no calculation questions either and passed. EVERYBODY comes out of NCLEX thinking they failed. I did too, you did fine I'm sure. There are so many variations on the test that I dont see how there can be a pattern to pass/fail. The NCLEX uses an adaptive system that gives questions based on the user's level. Remember, the average NCLEX taker only gets 50% of their questions correct. That is a direct quote from the NCSBN official site. It is a minimum competency test. It definately depends on the kind of marriage you have before you start school. If a couple of years of nursing school breaks your marriage, then it was probably not that strong to begin with. I am about to finish up my first semester of a 2 yr program, and I work full time. I've been married for three years. It has been tough, but I have a very loving, supportive wife. We had an understanding with each other of how this was gonna be before I started. The one thing that we keep in mind is that it will all have been worthwhile in the end, with the job security, financial security, and me doing something that I love to do.
