CRRN exam
Pearls review's study material isn't exactly what people over here say the exam is about. I still haven't found any study guide except CRRN Exam Secrets Study Guide, which has very bad reviews. Anyway, if anybody knows... I'd be interested in knowing the answer. Unfortunately, I cannot afford the $200 cd-rom from the Association Rehabilattion Nurses.

International nursing students in the US
Question for Suzanne4: Hi Suzanne. I read along this thread that you do not recommand nursing homes as a start for new grads. The thing is that all hospital training programs in my area are full until next year, so I am stuck with opening my horizons to LTC. I was offered a position on a skilled unit of a LTC facility. The training program is 4 weeks, and they know I am a new grad who needs training. The patient load is 13 per RN. Do you have any recommandation? Thanks you for your reply.

need advice
Hi! I was offered a job in a LTC on a skilled unit. The RN is responsible for 13 patients there. They provide a 4 weeks orientation which does not seem to be geared for new grads specifically, although they know I am a new grad. Is this enough? Should I expect to be overwhelmed? The thing is that all the hospitals' residency programs are full so now, I am looking into LTC. Am I setting myself up for failure? I really do not know what to think about such a transition from student to being responsible for 13 patients. If anybody is or went through this experience, please, let me know. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for your reply! Do you think I should mention the sponsorship thing up front or should I wait till they make me an offer? What is your experience?

International nursing students in the US
Hi everyone, I just graduated and passed my NCLEX. I have an OPT that expires next year but I would like to be sponsored right away and avoid waisting some time. Does anybody have any suggestion on how to approach hospitals about sponsorship? I already had 1 interview for a training program. I was not accepted in their program. I think it turned them off when I said I would need sponsorship. Also, if they say yes for sponsorship, should I take their word for it? Is it done right away? Did anybody go through this? Thanks!
