  1. I too would like to give my short opinion to this every conversational topic. I love my whites! I am a new nurse and I too starch and press my white dresses and pant uniforms. I am prior military and that's what I have always done with my uniforms. I have just gotten my first nursing job and the response to me wearing whites was somewhat over bearing. The comments from the nurses and staff members was a mixture of compliments to out right rudeness. I think everyone needs to remember why we have chosen this profession of caring. I received the over whelming rude comments from the older nurses (experience only). I personally think that nursing is going to the pits with the personal attacks to change or anything different. If a person does not have something nice to say in this area about what another individual wears they should not say anything. I just love being a nurse and if I feel great in whites then that is my right to wear them. I think everyone needs to be professional and clean. This is what the clients will respect.
  2. I would like to encourage all the new nurses coming off orientation. I am a new nurse what will be on my own tomorrow. I have mixed emotions about what will go on tomorrow. One of our nurses told me "You will be just fine - try to have as much confidence in what you know than what you do not know." That statement has helped me so much. I have tried to take the positive from whom ever and put it into my pot of soup! I think it is sad that there is so much negativity towards new nurses or RN vs. LPN. I just hope that nurses can get back to just loving what they do! I have chosen to be on the night shift and I just love it! I am on a Women's surgical unit and we are busy! I just thank God for the opportunity to be a good nurse and just help people. :wink2:
  3. Thanks I will check that out. I am working on a busy GYN/Surgical and Breast surgery unit and really need to have quick access. This is my first position as a LPN. I am getting a tremendous amount of experience. I consider myself blessed. Thank you.
  4. Thank you this is a wonderful start. I will check with our pharmasist first then the drug companies. I will keep all posted of my findings.
  5. Hello, Has anyone heard of or know where I can find: IV Fluid/Medication Compatibility Chart or sheet? I know I can find all I need in the drug book however, I was just wondering if there was a stand along chart or sheet? Thanks
  6. Yes, check on www.northside.com. They have a wonderful program. Good luck. Also check with the Red Cross.
  7. hello everyone, first i am a bit unsure of what to type. i am so excited about my opportunity to join a wonderful nursing team. i have just graduated and now employed to a gyn/surgical unit. this is the first time they have ever had lpns in this unit. it is a new small program for us. i am the last lpn to be hired. the other (2) have been working since march/april 2006. they are doing fine from what i am told. i will begin my orientation tomorrow. i did go through all the applying and all, but i found and believe we have to go to different facilities and sell yourself. even though i am a new grad i am very positive and sure i have something to bring to this team. i have just been blessed and i know this is an excellent, excellent opportunity for me. i plan to learn all i can. yes, i am a bit nervous however, i am going to draw from who and what i can and leave the rest. i do plan to continue my education until i finish my rn. if you have any suggestions, please feel free to advise me. this is a huge undertaking and i am willing to listen. thank you:balloons:
