Pager assistance or Blackberry
Not sure where to put this, but since it is "location" specific I put it with the Michigan thread. I am an RN who lives in Windsor, ON but will be travelling back/forth to work in Michigan. I am looking to get a pager, but seems that for me to get one in Canada and then use in the US will cost a fortune. Can I get a pager in MI without living there?? Are Blackberry's allowed in the hospital or are they considered the same as a cell phone? Any suggestions? Thanks:nurse:

New OB Nurses, Grads and Students, Please Feel Free to post your questions here:
Hello everyone, I am so happy to say I will be starting on L&D in a few weeks!!!! I have been a nurse now for over 15 years, working in many different areas including ER/OR/ICU and as a Doula trainer/Childbirth Educator. However, I have never been an L&D nurse. Are there any good websites as an orientation reference to get familiar with the drugs, info on fetal heart tones, vag checks, ect??? I have the typical CBE books, but I am looking for specifics for the role of an L&D nurse. Thanks again and I look forward to getting to know this group. Nancy:)

Beaumont Royal Oak
I have an interview this week at Beaumont..excited and nervous. Anyone currently work at Beaumont RO as an RN? What are the current RN salaries for someone with experience, over 15 yrs? Are their shift differentials? Sign on Bonuses? ....I am out of the loop. I have been a SAHM for about 3 yrs now, so things are "new" to me all over again. Also, does anyone know when Med benefits would begin if hired? Is there a probationary wait of 3 mos or so?? Thanks for your help!!!
