I applied to 2 local community colleges with my first application attempt this past year. I got into one and didn't even make waiting list for the other. I found that eventhough both schools are part of the same statewide system within NC, they used very different entrance requirements. One required the NET, and the other the PSB entrance exam. The PSB was MUCH harder. Needless to say, I'm going to the school that used the NET. One school used my high school grades (which were pretty stellar) and the other focused primarily on my college courses (mainly a social education era, if I remember correctly) I ended up having to take my Anatomy and Physiology this Spring and Summer, but I did a little studying for the entrance tests and did not need to take additional math etc. Its been 20 years since I got my BA in Economics, and it would be tough to have to retake alot of those courses. I hope it works out for you. Changing careers at this point isn't easy, and I don't even have 2 kids to support. Best of luck!
