  1. I have been following this thread with interest, if ya'll have gotten an 13$ an hour raise, what is your base pay for new grads and also for a nurse with a BSN and several years of experience? Just wondering. Down here we get a 3% yearly raise. Dont get me wrong, I'm always happy about 'Mo Money' but 13$ an hour raise! WOW!
  2. Whats going on in MA with the nurses union? Just wondering. RockieSis
  3. Check out SW Florida College in Tampa area. Much more economical, and approved by AORN. My friend went many years ago and has done very well with her career. I am considering it myself. Other than a packet of information I do not know anything else about the program. Good Luck. From what I understand it is a commitment! RockieSis
  4. Thank Ya'll so much. RockieSis
  5. Does anyone have some helpful web sites for ACLS prep? Thanks RockieSis
  6. I thought this went on only at my place of employment! Our OR manager is not a nurse, and prior to her being moved over to our department, I had never seen her in the hospital. It is a frustrating situation to say the least
  7. RockieSis replied to callbabe's topic in Operating Room
Would you believe 1$ an hour for on call and nothing extra until you'v clocked 40, and you can forget weekend, holiday pay. Oh, did I mention I cover for 24/7.
  8. Whisper I work in CVOR and we place Maxorb wick on the incision with an Arglaese clear film on top of it. I will bring package insert literature home tomorrow from the OR if you would like to email me for more info. I wont bore the other readers with the details. I will also check with the CVRU to see what the dsg change schedule is. So far so good with our infection rate. We are a new program going on our 2nd, very successful year. RockieSis. (I really need to change that to RangerSis since he got traded!!)
  9. Open inquiry to Open Heart nurses. How do you position your patients arms for surgery? Our Doc trained at THI where arms are positioned above the head on Wedges and taped to the arm board. This bothers me, as well as some of the other staff members. But he is adament that this is acceptable and standard practice in other areas. Is anyone else out there doing this? thanks so much R-SIS
