Graduated PN school 6 yrs ago
Ok, I won't be buying the La Charity book, I just found out it is for RN's! Does anybody know of a good book for LPN's that have delegation, prioritizing? I could really use one!

Graduated PN school 6 yrs ago
I haven't completed the application yet! I really need to pass, this time around, which will be my 3rd attempt. If I don't I will have to take a remediation course, which wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, but it is very expensive. Right now I am reading a Foundation in Nursing, to refresh my memory. Once I finish reading that I am going to purchase a Saunders, Kaplan or Lippencott book. I will probably purchase the La Charity book for delegation I really need that. We can definately keep in touch!

Developing a Plan for taking the NCLEX-RN
pers, after I posted, I read that you are planning to test August or September. I think that should be plenty of time!

Developing a Plan for taking the NCLEX-RN
I am not sure if an MP3 player will work or not! I also saw that if you have an Iphone or IPod touch you can study on the go. I also saw Pharmacology and other various nursing reviews. The plan that I am sticking to is, I am refreshing my memory with a Foundations of nursing book, first. At the end of each chapter I answer the questions and check my answers. Once I complete the foundations book I am going to purchase one of the review books. I haven't decided which one yet! Then I will take the test and review the rationales until I fully understand, I am planning on doing at least 5,000 to 7,500 questions. I am also writing everything down that I studied, chapters and tests with the dates that I studied. I just started listening to the audio review on the IPOD, it was a good resource and helped point me in the right direction of study. I am not much of a studier either, now I am very motivated and will pass the third time around. I haven't set a date yet, I am looking at July or August. I am scared to death of taking this exam again, which is why I stopped. Both times I had the maximum amount of questions and freaked out. pers, have you scheduled a date yet?

Also, if you have an IPOD there are a bunch of NCLEX reviews on Itunes. They have Saunder's Mosby and Davis. You can download the reviews and take them anywhere you go. You can even listen to them while driving. I downloaded the PN one and it pointed me in the right drection of what, where and how to study for the NCLEX. I hope this helps! I am also in a similar boat as you, it has been ten years for me! We just have to study smarter and not harder!

Graduated PN school 6 yrs ago
Hi, I am not new to the site, but it has been a long time since I have posted anything. Most of the time I just read everyone's post's. I know exactly how you feel. I too graduated from PN school awhile ago. Mine was 10 years go. I can't seem to figure out where the time has gone. I took the test twice and failed both attempts. I made near passing scores both time. I blame myself because, I feel that I didn't study as hard, I just couldn't concentrate and gave up very easy. I am studying once again, this time I have a different approach. I am taking the exam in July or August. I live in Florida and you only get 3 attempts before you have to take a refresher course. I am going to pass my third attempt. Then I am planning on going to LPN-RN transition program. During my 10 year absence, got married had 3 kids and managed to get my bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, while working fulltime, I still am. I can't believe I gave up so easily! All the posts lately everyone has passed, which has given me hope! I know that we can do it! Nothing is going to stop me now!

Do you think there is still hope for me!!!!!!!
Thanks for your encouraging words, I will study, study, study, and will pass, pass, pass. Fiona59, I am very confident in my clinical skills and meds I will do fine in that area. But I have decided to take a refresher class for clinical skills before I come in contact with any patients which is 3 months long 2 days a week for 8 hours. :wink2:

Do you think there is still hope for me!!!!!!!
Hi, this is my first post on allnurses. Here is my situation. I graduated from PN school in 1999 with a B+ average. Initially I was afraid to take the test for my license, I eventually did 6 months after I graduated, and failed. I was distraught and gave up. I stayed employed at my current job and climbed the ladder into management. In 2005 I took the NCLEX again and failed it a 2nd time :angryfire. Well, here it is 2006 and I still don't have my license, my husband has encouraged me to try again, he says the third time is the charm. My other problem is that I currently love my job and don't really want to leave it (Loss Prevention). I make $20 an hour fulltime, benefits the whole shabang. But now my company is suffering financially and has cut 250 jobs. And I heard through the grapevine that my department will probably be next in the next year or so. So I have decided to take the NCLEX a 3rd time for licensure, I also forgot to mention that I am currently enrolled and only 2 semesters away from my bachelor's degree in the Adminstration of Criminal Justice @ Mountain State University, I am the off again on again college student, I have most of my prereq's for nursing and have been in school for at least 15 years. Once I pass the NCLEX-PN I would like to apply for the LPN to ADN program already informed the hubby that I will not work during this time and strictly focus on nursing school and will take the exam a few weeks after graduating. Do you think I can pass the NCLEX the 3rd time, I am very afraid If I fail the 3rd time I will have to take a remedial course. I will study for 3 months and take the NCLEX around June. To study I will enroll in the NCSBN review. Do you think this is enough or should I purchase a book, CD review also . HELP, please I really want to pass this time!!!!!
