  1. i am about to enter complex at tcc ~ so, the info you have gotten is correct with the exception of theory possibilities. last semester in pedi/ob, i had a 4 hour/once a week theory class and i have the same once a week class for complex. so essentially, i have only had 2 days a week tied up with school (we all know its so much more than that, but only 2 official days.) aren't you at uta? i believe we have a friend in common. :) i have a very close friend who is there who is a single mom w/ 4 kids. :) good luck! missy ~ mom to 2 great kids, rn to be dec'08, currently a student nurse extern at hmsw
  2. As of the class that started in Jan '07 (the class I am in!) you no longer get bonus points for medical terminology, patho, pharm, dimensional analysis, etc. It is a straight points system off your classes completed and TEAS. Good Luck!!! Missy TCC SN Class of Dec 08!!!!
  3. I was at Plaza for the spring semester. I liked it. There is a lot of griping amongst the nurses for short staffing constantly. But there was a lot of good opportunities to watch procedures, have great nurses go over procedures (IV, catheter's, etc). All Saints (Baylor) DT = Baylor All Saints Down Town. TCC goes to all the hospitals downtown for clinicals. Who do you have for theory and clinicals? I am at Baylor for Adult this Fall and JPS for Psych starting in July. Missy
  4. The Elkin, Perry, Potter and the Jarvis have online components. Have fun Friday! I am off to my foundations one on one evaluation tomorrow morning. Missy RN in '09 TCC
  5. ok, i'll answer as many of these as possible, though i am sure they will go over a lot of this at orientation/camp success. a typical week... m/w theory 10am-11:50am; then off to the hospital to pick my patient for the next day, then home to work on my paperwork for the next day. t/th clinical from 6:45-12:45, and on tuesdays, skills class from 2-5pm. i try to get all of my reading for the following week done on friday/sat/sun. we usually meet 2-3 times a week to practice skills for our check offs. i got some of my books (taber's, drug book, care plan book, med surg book, etc online or at bookstores, etc) there are a few books that you must buy at the tcc bookstore for the online component, well actually you could buy them elsewhere, but the online component is another $50, so its quite pricey to do it that way. jarvis and elkin perry potter have the online component. the nurse pak is a bunch of supplies you have to have for skills lab and practice of skills for checkoffs, etc. anything else? =) hope to have helped!!!! missy rn to be, tcc december '08
  6. congratulations!!!!!!!!!!! welcome to the tcc adn program!!! see ya next semester!!!!:balloons::balloons::balloons: missy tcc rn 2 be dec '08
  7. Ladies, the letters from TCC should be on the way soon! They have orientation set up for May 4!!!! So they have to have a little time for some responses before that. Good Luck! :-) Missy TCC RN in Dec '08
  8. Unfortunatly, they are VERY strict. I got my last hep B shot on the day we were able to petition for classes. If I had not, I would have not been allowed to register or attend clinical. My best friend is at UTA and they have the option of a waiver, but TCC won't take a waiver if you have started the immunizations. Or at least this is what I was told. I would definately ask, because if you get in, you may be able to protest the waiver thing. Good Luck! Hope to see you in the summer!
  9. Yep, I am a Foundations student at TCC. The wait is definately killer. :trout: Missy :balloons:RN in 2008
  10. TCC applicants ~ last spring, the letters were received the last 1-2 weeks in April if I remember correctly. Sorry! I remember the waiting. This semester has been surreal so far! Best of luck to y'all!:balloons: Missy :balloons:RN in December '08:balloons:
  11. I had Ms. Tucker. She was pretty good. They have a specialized text for TCC that a lot of instructors use. I happen to have one for sale if you or anyone you know needs it. It was $100 new and the bookstore is no longer buying texts back that have/had internet codes. Ms. Tucker offers the needed codes to her students every semester though, so it seems like a new bookstore scam. UGH Anyhow, if you need the book and are interested in used I am more than happy to make you a great deal.

  13. I have a friend who is starting school in January at UTA. She just had a baby and her Hep B series won't be complete. The secretary told her she could fill out a form, fax it and the state would send a waiver. Anyone know where to find this info? Thanks! Missy :balloons:Starting TCC ADN program in Jan '07!!!! WAHOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:balloons:
  14. Congrats!!!! But you're still taking the UTA spot, right?
