LVN instead of RN
The first med error, I gave it too early. He was on a routine med. It was an analgesic. The patient did not die and had no adverse effects. The second med error, I did not check the blood pressure before I gave the blood pressure med.The parameters were systolic I've learned from this mistake and was willing to do whatever remediation there was What I'm trying to figure out is that nurses are making med errors while they are licensed and how are they being reprimanded? Is it worse to make mistakes as a student or a licensed nurse? Or is it equal?

LVN instead of RN
I was told today that I cannot continue in the RN program due to a second med error I had made. I was getting ready to graduate this May. I'm very disappointed and sad needless to say. However, since I have 3 semesters behind me, I can qualify for the LVN and take the test. So, I'm thinking all is not lost. My question is: How beneficial is it for me to work as an LVN now? Does anyone know what kind of job opportunities are here in Northern California? Thanks for your input

Nursing Management for Burns
Hello! Does anyone know of any excellent burn injury websites? I'm looking mostly for nursing interventions or a website that has NCLEX like questions on burns I can answer. Is there a Critical Care Nurse out there who specializes in Burns that could answer questions I had? Thanks for your time and resources. Have a great day!

Is this the right decision?
So, I was in the RN program and didn't pass my last semester. The Dean at my school suggested becoming an LPN while waiting to get back into fourth semester. It looks like I probably won't get in until Fall 2007 and even that is questionable. The Dean was willing to help me fill out all the paperwork and after that I can take the NCLEX-PN. I thought that instead of feeling sorry for myself this would keep my foot in the door and help me practice certain skills I've acquired. I live in Northern California and wonder what the salaries are here and whether I'll be in a LTC facility or if there is a chance I can work in the hospitals? Is it a wise move for me to be an LVN while I'm waiting to be an RN? Am I taking a step back or forwards? Thanks for your advice.

Did anyone not make a semester?
:chair: This is what I want to do right now. Hide under a chair or under the blankets. I wanted to know if there is anyone out there that didn't pass a semester in a 2 year nursing program. I just found out yesterday that I didn't pass theory therefore I won't be graduating this December. I was so close and yet so far! I've put myself on a waiting list at my college and hope to get back into fourth semester SOON but heard that it may take a year. SIGH. I'm trying to calm myself down by saying that I WILL be a nurse but that it'll just be a longer road for me and that there are worse things in life.I'm trying to put things into perspective but I'm grieving right now. Anyways, some positive advice or comments would be nice. Nursing school is positively the HARDEST thing I've had to do in my life. At this point, I'd rather have my teeth pulled :zzzzz Thanks for listening

Too many Negative remarks regarding Nursing School here!! Stop the discouragement!!
I wish you all the best on getting into the program. I'm sure you'll succeed. However, until you are actually experiencing being in the program and how grueling and sometimes frustrating it can be, please consider the people who are there. I had a bad day and used "hell" in my post but I'm allowed to feel that way just like I'm allowed to feel elated at success. You get the good and the bad in the nursing program PERIOD. That's the way it is. Thanks to everyone else that posted and supports my need to vent. I'm getting over it and moving onwards and upwards! I'm going to graduate this December no matter what! I LOVE THIS WEBSITE!

Endocrine System Information
Hello, All, I'm in my last semester of nursing school HELL (please excuse the language but that's how I'm feeling about it right now) So, we had our second last theory test today and we have one more before our final grades are posted. This is my problem. I'm sitting at a 73% right now and I need 75% to pass the PROGRAM. So, I'm using every source I can to study for the last test which is the endocrine system. So, I was wondering if you know of any good books, websites (reliable and professional) that are easy to read and concise about the endocrine system (not a lot on diabetes because we covered most of that in first semester) Your input would be GREATLY appreciated. Have a good day and I'll try to!:wink2:

Myers-Briggs Type
I took the Myers Briggs test with my husband around 3-4 years ago. I believe it's accurate. I'm a ISFJ and nursing is one of the careers.

What Gets to You??
I can handle poop, vomit, sputum, blood alright but when it comes to changing a colostomy bag, look out because that's when I'll want to puke. Where is some Vick's when I need it!? :-)
