Not sure why you wouldn't want a nurse on methadone... someone stable on the medication and strong in their recovery is someone you SHOULD want on your care team. Addicts are some of the most empathetic understanding and sensitive humans on the planet. Another layer to that is when a person is on a stable dose of methadone they're unable to feel other opiates. There's absolutely no reason why someone stable would want to ruin their career for that. The nurses that I personally have had in my life that were either addicts themselves or understood addiction were the best nurses. So many nurses are so ignorant about addiction.
