  1. No you are correct. But with the new Affordable Care Act, if you work more than 30 hours per week, your employer HAS to offer you insurance. So the PRN's that are working more than 30 are getting their hours cut. I was just wondering how other medical facilities were handling this.
  2. I am a PRN nurse in a hospital and of course we are cutting hours below 30/week. Just wondering if PRN staff signed something that says we refuse benefits if we would be allowed to work more than 30? I can't find any law that addresses that?
  3. Yeah, I think the whole electrical system thing just hasn't "stuck" yet. Like I said, I am really trying to like it and learn it because I think with a tele or ICU background, that is really the foundation for everything. I know how important it is, I just need to stick it!!
  4. Just wondering if everyone started out loving telemetry and knew that's what you wanted to do, or did it take some getting used to? I am a recent grad in May, and because the hospital I worked at paid for my tuition, I am working for them for 1 year to pay it back. Unfortunately, cardiac was NOT my favorite thing in school and that is where they put me to work at. I am really, really trying to learn, and trying to like it, but it just isn't coming to me. I have always had this mental block when it comes to the heart and I stink at reading the monitor strips! So does anyone have any motivational words or has anyone been in this same situation and just eventually learned to love tele?! Would love to hear from someone that was once in the same boat as me!!
  5. Just wanted to give my input on the "trick". I would have bet thousands that I failed that crazy test, but checked the Pearson site as soon as I got home, and it wouldn't let me reregister. And I PASSED!!! It definitely saved me from a few gray hairs!!!
  6. Question for everyone that tried the "trick". Did anyone try it and it wasn't correct? I am testing today for NCLEX RN and will be dying to find out results, and didn't know how soon I can try the trick.
  7. Thanks Bellarubia for the advice. Congrats on passing!!!
  8. Thanks, and good luck to you.
  9. I just graduated May 8th, and am taking Kaplan which is the last weekend in May and first weekend in June. Not thinking clearly, I scheduled my NCLEX on the Monday right after Kaplan. Since I have been studying already, do you guys who have taken Kaplan and boards think this is a really stupid idea, or think I should be OK? I have been doing all the Qbank and trainer quizzes. I just really don't want to put it off any longer, but yet I definitely want to be prepared. Thanks for any advice you may have for me!
  10. I have actually been studying, but I have about 6 books that I keep going back and forth between, and sometimes it's really overwhelming. I just wanted opinions on which one others preferred so I could focus on maybe 1 or 2.
  11. I am taking NCLEX June 8th, doing Kaplan over the next two weekends. I was just wondering to all who have taken NCLEX already, which study book was more like the real thing? I have several and don't know which one to really focus on. I was seriously sick to my stomach even scheduling the exam!
  12. I just wanted some flashcards so that I could throw some in my purse and study at randoms times, and not have to carry a book around. I wish I had thought of flashcards back in August, because you are right, making my own would have been great, but never even thought of it. So I just thought I would ask which ones were preferred by some on this site.
  13. Ummm...not sure what perfect world you are living in, but I have 19 class days of school left, 12 tests, and all of the studying that will be involved in that, not sure when anyone would have time to go back thru EVERYTHING and make flash cards. So does anyone else have any recommendations as to which flash cards are best?
  14. Does anyone know if the Saunders Q&A NCLEX book has the same questions as the flash cards? I have Saunders, Lippincott and Mosby book but wanted to get some flashcards because I can carry them around with me alot easier, but didn't know which flash cards were best, and also if the book questions were duplicating the flash cards??? If anyone knows of some different flash cards that you really liked please let me know!
  15. That makes sense when you put it like that! I guess I just have trouble putting into "proper" words what I need to say. I will go work on it again...thanks so much!
