Nurses remember: The Board of Nursing in your state is NOT your friend. They primarily exist to generate revenue for the state. Should you receive notice you are under investigation by the Board of Nursing for an alleged violation of the nurse practice act, DO NOT speak with an investigator. Engage a competent criminal defense attorney, then have attorney set up the interview at his/her office. It will cost you more than a few $, but you will receive peace of mind in return.

Nurses remember: What goes round comes round - one can only bully others for so long before there's payback, often much worse than the initial bullying. Got a problem with a colleague? Notify first level management of issue and how it influences negatively your workflow/work output - you'll have a better chance of getting their attention. Ask for a private conference, you, the bad actor, and management. That doesn't work, go to next level management. That doesn't work, go to HR, tell them all about how you went to two levels management without result. You may have to do all this on your own time, so what! Stick up for yourself! Think the assignments are inequitable - say so, tell management you can't handle that extra one or two patients. If you are a member of a "protected" class don't use it to repress, oppress, or use that class as leverage to get out of hard work. Be a real human being.

Real Grand Mal Seizure (Not necessarily all inclusive) Inmate loses bladder and/or bowel control Froth/foam at the mouth No response to painful stimuli arms/legs extremely stiff,(hard for nurse to actively flex/extend) No response to verbal stimuli Ammonia crush capsules placed in nostrils have no effect Bogus Grand Mal Seizure (Not necessarily all inclusive) Inmate may allow picking one arm up straight up and letting arm fall-a fully conscious person will redirect arm as it falls to side of body to avoiding hitting self in face, a seizing person will hit self in face (If not a in a full tilt grand mal seizure) Ammonia crush capsules will instantly "revive" person - will react vigorously Will maintain bladder/ bowel control (except for the expert actors-they may urinate on themselves) May hold still for vital signs Sometimes just telling person to stop -that you're on to their ruse, will cause them to stop
