I'm starting clinical in a few weeks. The residency wasn't bad I enjoyed getting hands on practice and meeting my cohort. I actually wish there was more than just 1 residency but many students traveled from all around the country so I don't think that would be feasible for most. I would say if you're hoping to keep working full time you will need an online program out of necessity for scheduling. Otherwise and in person program might be better if your work schedule is flexible or you don't have to work.

Hi, I haven't completed it yet, but I'm halfway through. Unfortunately, I would say that many of the negative comments are still mostly true. However, their response time for me has been extremely prompt and my clinical paperwork was approved in 1 week. The classes are very easy-too easy. they don't teach you anything, and it's just "checking a box" to get your diploma. I have only had 1 class that provides lectures (which were actually helpful). all the work is posted in the syllabus in the first week of class and you can basically complete at your own pace. I often work 1-2 weeks ahead and then try to take a 2-3 week break in between classes. It's so much easier than my BSN program but that leaves me afraid for how unprepared I will be at my first job. However, I know 6-7 alumni from this program that are all FNPs and have jobs and are competent so here's hoping!

I am currently 1/2 way through the MSN FNP program at SAU. I would say my experience has been unimpressive. pros: - 7 week courses - courses are VERY easy in my opinion- almost too easy. if you turn the assignment and meet all the requirements you get 100% - name recognition in michigan and thats pretty much where it ends. cons: - Nursing office is unorganized, unresponsive, and very rude to students. - This school does not set up your clinical sites for you (but most online schools don't) this is a huge stressor for many students. - Classes DO NOT prepare you for the boards. Everything I've learned has been self-directed. Homework is just "busy work" and doesn't teach you anything except how to write a proper APA paper. - cost. it's about mid-range but I still find it far overpriced for their lack of assistance in setting up sites. honestly, I feel like I am just writing them a check to mail me a diploma. I would only recommend this school if you are an excellent, self-motivated, and self-directed learner, because you will be teaching yourself everything for the boards and clinicals. And beware that hospital systems (at least in my area) don't recognize Spring Arbor as an affiliated school, so finding a clinical placement is nearly impossible.
