  1. After you get your RN, also look at RN to DNP programs for NPs that "skip" the MSN. There are RN to PhD programs and by the time you finish your RN, the academic landscape may have changed so be sure that you are getting the most current information on programs. Cheryl
  2. FlyingScot is correct -there is no specialization at the BSN level. What you need to look for is an RN to MSN program with a nursing informatics specialty. One thing to consider is whether or not the program grants a BSN at some point or if you have to finish the entire program before a degree is granted (MSN).
  3. Aglaia, I work in informatics in two positions - one as Chief Nursing Informatics Officer for Rubbermaid Medical Solutions (vendor) and as Contributing Faculty for Walden University MSN program - Nursing Informatics track. So my answers to your questions are going to be a bit different since my roles are. But I'll answer from my full time position--- 1. Neither-I report to Director of Marketing 2. No 3. He is having to learn what I do as I've only been in this position a few months 4. Lots of travel 5. (1) Everyone is focused on Meaning Use and EMR implementations...what will happen when there are no more big EMR implementations just small ones and maintance? (2) How do we make the voice of nursing heard even more loudly starting today? 6. Our work impacts aggregates of patients instead of individuals and data is needed to make quality decisions...again, data/information is where we play Some people come to it trying to get away from bedside care...wrong reason. HOpe this helped a bit
  4. I have never seen a website that offered this type of information--the best thing to do is to contact the HR department of hospitals and ask if they have a weekend only (with benefits) plan. Not everyone calls it the Baylor plan.
