I am completing my BSN online. I intend to enroll in an MSN nursing informatics school a semester after I complete my BSN.

I made a career decision before getting into nursing about studying something else once i had my nursing license. Now i'm not so sure. Back in 2010, i started taking classes towards engineering. At the time, i was not so sure about the particular engineering so i enrolled into some science classes. In 2011, i visited a friend, and he explained to me the advantages of doing nursing especially job availability and the ability to work less and make more. After listening to him, I decided to give it a thought. It took me 7 months to make up my mind about switching to nursing. The idea being that i could graduate with an associate, work less number of hours, make enough to sponsor myself through engineering school without taking a loan. Don't get me wrong, I am passionate about helping people, but i have had this engineering thing in my head since i was 10yrs old. Graduated with my nursing associates in 2014 and got a job right a way. Before completing nursing school, i had finished with Calculus courses. I have since worked in various places and finally landed in Oncology. I tried going back into engineering, but my friends tried to talk me out of it and instead advised me to continue with my bachelors in nursing which i have no interest in pursuing. The thought of me wanting an engineering degree keeps lingering in my head, so i finally took an engineering physics class and passed with flying colors. Now i registered for my last math and physics class. I now have doubts if i am making the right decision to want to continue with a degree in computer engineering. I have about 1 more semester after this to complete the prerequisites and 2-3yrs to obtain a bachelor in computer engineering or science degree. The normal average number of years traditional students take to complete this degree is 6-7years. I wonder if anyone has gone route before. Any advise is welcome.

Is it possible to obtain a BSN in Nursing Informatics online with an RN degree?

I set out my goal in 2010 to achieve a career in Nursing, make enough money to pay my way through Mechanical Engineering, which i will divert to, as soon as i'm done with Nursing school. It took me 7months to make up my mind to follow this path. Honest to God, i have never been so overwhelm by what Nursing school put me through, but i finally finished my ADN, still waiting to take my NCLEX. Despite my urges since 10yrs old (now 26yrs) to become a mechanical engineer, I'm now faced with serious ambivalence whether it's a good idea to go to engineering school or stay in nursing. Why at nursing school, i took calculus I, II, & III classes and now registered for general chemistry I class after which i will proceed to physics and so on. Should i continue with my nursing and have maybe my BSN, switch to maybe nursing informatics, which has some degree of engineering, or continue with my career path in mechanical engineering? By the way, I'm going for a double major in mechanical and aerospace engineering at a university that offers both for an extra semester (aerospace to broaden my job prospect or join airforce if possible). Can i work as a nurse and school as an engineer? Additional extras to consider, i attended a technical middle and high school and had my high school certificate in Automobile mechanics (studying almost all pre-engineering courses there is) meaning i have a minor base in statics, kinematics, dynamics, and resistance of material, knowledge in material technology, engineering drawings, electricity, magnetics, and so on. I love connecting things and watch them work. I go to bed late everyday because of the time i spend on my computer trying to install or uninstall or figure out how certain things are configured. I have a passion for engineering that i cannot erase easily and feel like crying just thinking of how happy i will be when i finally obtain a degree in that field. At the same time, i love helping people and have an effective fit as a nurse. I currently work as a nursing assistance and already have a pending Nursing Job at a heart & Lung transplant unit at one of the best hospital in that field (go figure). Anyway, I am confused and need help. I have sought help from counselors, and instead of helping me, they tell me what i already know and spend more time in being amazed how one could pursue both majors instead of advising me. Hopefully someone in this site has an idea of what i could do. Thanks in advance for your reply.
