Hi Again, We made it to the last applicant with 79 points. Ways to strengthen your application: Meet with a counselor to review each item of the Multi-criteria and find something you can get points for (second language? ) Get a certificate such as a nursing assistant, medical technician, EMT, etc... Work in health care Volunteer at a skilled care facility or hospital Retake a basic science course to improve your GPA Take a TEAS prep course and retake the TEAS (we accept the score you receive the first time you take it within 365 days, so you need to schedule the TEAS 365 days or more after the last time you took it) And I always advise applicants to apply to multiple programs because the admission criteria differ from school to school. Hello Folks, I'd like to provide you with an update and some encouragement. First of all, there is a nursing shortage that is projected to continue for the predictable future. AI is nowhere near being capable of providing the hands-on, heart-open care needed by individuals with unique circumstances . For some time to come, it will be necessary for human beings to do the work. For you aspiring nurses, there is a way into the profession. Persistence will pay off. I encourage you to keep applying to as many programs as is reasonable for you to apply to and to find an entry-level position, such as a nursing assistant, patient care technician or medical assistant. All that being said, we have filled our last seat in the program. We received 274 qualified applications and sent out a total of 69 invitations in order to seat 43 students on the class. There is still a chance that one of our admitted students will change their minds at the last minute, but if you have received an acceptance letter from another program, I encourage you to go ahead and take that opportunity. For those of you who find yourselves without a seat in a class this year, I encourage you to reapply next year and to work with one of our counselors to determine what it would take to increase your score on the multicriteria form and increase your chances of getting in next year. Hello Again! We are still inviting applicants who scored 81. We had two people get right back to us this morning to decline and so we sent out more invitations. Hello Everyone, We've just sent out another round of acceptance emails. Please check your inbox! If you received one, you'll have 72 hours to let us know whether you accept your spot in the program. This round, we used a random number generator to select four students through our lottery process. Please keep in mind that some students may decide to decline their offers. If that happens, we will either move to the next person on the list or run the lottery again, depending on the circumstances. Hi Folks! I'd like to share an update on our admissions process: As applicants respond to their offers, we are steadily filling the class. At this time, 32 of the 43 available spots have been accepted — so we are making good progress, but the process is still ongoing. Please remember that not all applicants accept their offers, and we continue moving down the list until all seats are filled. Additionally, some students may later withdraw due to changing circumstances or offers from other programs. Once the list has progressed to a certain point (smallest possible!), we will hold a lottery to admit four additional students. We've also begun emailing applicants with the total point score their application received. This email will include instructions on how to appeal your score if you believe there has been an error. Our administrative assistant is beginning with those at the top of the list and working her way through — this may take some time. If you haven't heard yet, it likely means your application is further down the list. We hope this information helps guide your next steps — whether that's strengthening your application for next year or making a decision about another program. We appreciate your patience! Hi there aspiring nurses! As the director of the registered nursing program at College of Marin, I am thrilled to be working with our engaged and creative students. We are using this platform for the first time to provide answers to your questions and updates on our registration process. This was a brilliant suggestion from members of our Student Nurses Association, like gummybear2002! So, here's the update. In the past, there have been some issues with deactivated MyCOM email addresses. Working with the folks in our IT department, we have developed a new plan. We are now sending a notice of acceptance to your personal email address with instructions on how to re-activate your MyCOM email account, if necessary. Once you receive this email, we ask that you send us an email from your MyCOM account to verify that it works. We will then send instructions with next steps. The first notices have just gone out. Please watch your personal email addresses closely over the next few weeks and respond to instructions promptly. But also realize that we have to give folks time to respond, and that means that this process may take weeks until we get the class filled.
