  1. Okay, I went with the women's flare pants, and one snap down shirt and one tailored shirt. They weren't bad at all. I tried everything on with a long sleeved tshirt underneath in case I'm cold in clinicals. I just ordered a stethascope, after reading everyones replies and on the tri-c msg. board. I hear that a lot of the other stuff we don't need right away or is in the tote. If I need other things, I'll get them as needed. I just need my shoes now! Ohiostudent11 - the patches are for sale at the bookstore
  2. What did you all get as far as uniforms, meaning the student kit, stethascope, hemostat, etc.... still not clear on what we really need.
  3. CraftyStar - no, I have not ordered my uniforms yet. Frankly after orientation I was so sick and worried that I haven't touched my stuff since. I did get the malpractice insurance that day and my patches for the uniforms. I need to make an appt. for the physical though. My CPR training is 4/16. I have only done the first part of my hep B shots, I have to wait until the end of this month to get the second vaccination. I too am worried about driving to my clinical site the night before clinicals for my information. I am not sure what I'll do with my children while I do this, as they will be in daycare for the entire week while I am at classes and clinicals. I read the response you got from a clinical instructor. I can see their point, but still it seems like a hoop to jump through. Which according to many nurses I know, nursing school will be full of. I hope at least that we can get our assignment for Fridays on Thursdays before we leave the clinical site. I am worried about the winter weather as well. Plus my clinical site is about 25 min. from my house. I really didn't appreciate the response you got where it was assumed you were entering lightly into this program. Everyone I have talked to is worried about the demands and I believe we are ALL taking it very seriously. I feel like we as an accelerated group are entering it even more seriously than traditional students, given all of the prereq. we have completed to even apply. I really hope this attitude isn't shown to us during class.
  4. I just checked, it only says "Staff" as long as there is no lab part where I have to go to a campus, I think I'll be fine. I do well with online and hybrid courses, I just won't have the time to spend anymore time than I need to on campus. I was really surprised and irritated that we are going to have to go to our clinical sites dressed up the night before clinicals to get our patient info. They can't email that to us?
  5. I sure hope so! Thanks for the info. Do you know which section he teaches, I def. want to get him.
  6. Yay! Okay, I know who you are now! And thanks for asking about food, b/c it is an imporant question! I am kind of worried about the analytical thinking, not that I'm a great memorizer either. I just hope I can handle the workload. Are you taking psy2020? I signed up for the online one. I have a lot of psych. courses, but it looks like none of them transferred for that, I may look into it more, but registered just in case.
  7. were you the one who asked about fitting lunch into our hectic days?! :) I was about right behind that lady, one seat over, and one row behind. I have dark brown hair, it was in a ponytail and I was wearing a puffy black vest. I asked a few of questions, including one about the math testing, etc..
  8. Well, I am glad you are feeling good about it. I forgot momentarily about the hybrid classes in the following semesters. You have a good point with that and the snow. I only saw one person from my prereq. and I had not really talked to her before. When we are thrown in classes/clinicals together, I'm not worried about finding someone to suffer with though :). I believe I am in the second section on mondays as well, I will check later and let you know. I am going to do my clinicals at Hillcrest. Where were you sitting? I was in the back, near the doors about two or three rows up.
  9. Hey, sorry we didn't get to meet yesterday! So what do you think? I was really depressed last night. I am super scared. It almost seems impossible! I did register (at 11:30 last night), and am doing my clinicals at Hillcrest, and labs on Mondays. Did it seem to you that the second (fall) semester will be a bit less stressful than summer? I got that impression and keep tellling myself if I can make it through the sumer, I will be in the groove, and can handle the rest of it. What are your thoughts on yesterday?!?!?!?! P.S. - lived in NE Ohio nearly my entire adult life, but am so scared of driving (esp. on freeway) during blizzardy weather, and getting downtown on top of that. No, I am not an old lady (31), but I have slid all over the road way too many times. I never see Tri-C close b/c of weather.
  10. Nice! Good to hear. How much is it to park $.50? that's what it was at the branches. I need to print out directions before I leave work today. Yea, I heard it is nice, and something about a "million dollar man" a dummy that we will use there. Did you buy your malpractice ins. yet? I plan on buying it tomorrow.
  11. yes, everything else looked good on the DARS report. honestly if I have to take it, I'd much rather do that than another math class or anything else for that matter. Haha! You sound like me, as far as other nurses we know, and thinking..."if she/he did it, I certainly can!" Yes, same here, I never miss class, never really did. I am a little nervous for fall, b/c I want to see my daughter off to her first day of Kindergarten! Would love to be there when she gets home too, but we'll see. Maybe it will be on a lecture day and I can just talk to the prof. about coming in late. I would hope they would understand.
  12. well great, according to the dars report, I need psy2020. I guess I will talk to someone about this, as I have about 4 other psy. courses listed that I took in addition to the general psy. course. I wonder if I have to take it this first semester, I would prefer to wait until I am a little further into the program. looking over the syllabi I am nervous about the three chance rule, where if you cannot get the procedure after three tries, you fail!
  13. I believe I will not have to take psy2020 either, and I know I have completed my math req. luckily. Interesting! I will do the DARS report right now! I did have someone look at my transcripts and he said everything looked good, all I needed was micro. (which I was in at the time) to get into accelerated.
  14. This is really helpful; I felt somewhat lost before I found all of this, thanks again. No, it doesn't look too bad. Do you have to take psy2020? I am not sure if I do or not, all of my credits transferred and I have taken several psychology courses, beyond the general ones. Did someone look over your transcripts?
  15. Thank you, I found it! Much easier to plan things now! I think I might try for Bedford too, as my children will be with my parents those days on the east side. I bet everyone is going to want the same schedule where labs are back to back with lecture.
  16. Hey CraftyStar. I went online last night looking for the clinical sites. Were they in the course catalog, or something within "my tri-c space". I looked both places and was not able to find them. Hope you are on here today! :)
  17. I'm not sure either really, I have just heard it, and not only for Tri-C but for other programs, yes, I hope they address this on Thursday. I have heard from Tri-C graduates that the program is extremely difficult. I hope you are right!
  18. Oh good, I will have to look tonight. I have no clue how many are in our "class". I am so nervous/curious about the statistic that only 1/2 complete the course. Why is that? Especially given it is an accelerated program where we have all finished a bachelor's degree and the science prereq.
  19. No, I haven't, but I am determined to do that tonight! It is nearly impossible right now to get on the computer at home, and here at work, I cannot take my time for something like that. I am in the process of getting hired at SW general and was talking to another nurse who went to Tri-C and he said as far as clinical sites they might as well put your name in a hat and pull it out. Where did you find the list of clinical sites?
  20. Thank you! Glad I wasn't the only one wondering these things! See you there, I'll have a pink carnation on my lapel! jk! :)
  21. Hey, am I missing something or does the info. packet we received not contain the time and place for orientation on Thursday? Also, after taking the online test, I did not see a "confirmation" page, I saw my results..........any help?!
  22. I am pretty sure I will have help for the summer(s); and will most likely use my current babysitter or enroll my youngest in a daycare in the same building where my oldest will be in Kindergarten next year. I think classes start 5/27 (Tues. after Memorial Day). It is hard to find the academic schedule on their site. I got some (long story) of my shots yesterday, did my background check, registered/paid for CPR and changed my major code on line! Has anyone done the online test yet? If so, how was it? Oh - I also did a FASFA last week.
  23. I haven't taken any classes at Metro either, just east and online. I was hoping to avoid metro, as I work downtown now and hate the commute. But oh well. My parents live on the east side, so I was hoping they could help with my children (5 yrs. and almost 2 yrs.). As far as work, def. not the job I am in now, but possibly something in a hospital. I live in Fairview, by the airport.
  24. Umm, okay, I think I want your exact schedule! Seriously that would work for me. I wonder if it is all at metro, or if you can choose the campuses, etc...? I took micro. at the East campus last summer, and I saw nursing students there. Where are you located? I am taking CPR (4/16) through the Cuy. Board of Health, it is the one for "health providers" I forget which one that is. I just did it there, b/c I was making my appt. to get my immunizations done. That double mantoux is going to be a pain b/c you have to go back every few days to have it read or something. My friend talked about the profession and school, but I was mostly concered with the school part. 30 hrs. a week of studying is going to be very difficult. Are you still planning on working at all while in school? Do you have children?
  25. I haven't been able to look at the schedule. I did however make my appointments for my shots, and CPR training yesterday. I know how you feel, I have so much to get in order by 4/24! I had a nice long talk with a friend who is an RN as well yesterday, she came from a very similiar background as myself and alleviated a lot of my worries.
