  1. Hi there! Also commenting here since I'm interested in applying for the next cohort. Would someone be kind enough to share when each new cohort begins? Thanks in advance! ?
  2. @yara28 Hello, I decided on Penn's program because of the MSN specialty track they offered. Which program did you end up choosing?
  3. @yeon5seo Here is the group ? https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1BBwC8JBDa/
  4. @Hopeful1005 Sorry for the late response! Personally, I would like the RN degree just to have options to work as a bedside nurse first to gain experience. I believe experience is really important . However, I think I might have mispoken. MGH might offer the BSN degree after the first pre-licensure phase. You should reach out to them to check. Just a note - I also reached out to MGH admissions regarding some questions a week ago, but they never responded. That is a little offputting so for me, the choices are Penn or BC. Hope that helped!
  5. @yara28 Hello and thank you so much for sharing your insights from the student day info session! I really appreciate it ? It sounds like BC truly has very supportive faculty! You know, it's funny - that was also the feeling I got when I reached out to their admissions and throughout the application process. They were so responsive and so kind in answering every question I had. I, too like you, also feel a at crossroads for giving up the chance to attend Penn's program. I think good organization is probably one of the biggest factors as well. I may look in previous threads to see if any current students from Penn have any insights. If I learn anything else, I will let you know as well. But sounds like BC might be the one for you!! Thanks again and good luck with your nursing journey! Cheers!
  6. @honey_oolong Thanks!! That's what I initially thought as well, but I read somewhere that it's a BSN so was a tad confused LOL.
  7. Hello, I have a silly question. For the MPN portion of the degree, are we conferred a Bachelor's of Science or a Master's of Science? Thank you!
  8. @yara28 If it's not too much to ask, that would be wonderful if you could share your perspective from the admitted students day. Thank you so much! ? Gotcha, no worries. MGH has the acute specialty, whereas BC has the primary specialty. I am interested in both but I suppose more so in acute. I'll need to marinate some more haha. Thanks again!
  9. @petunia_2025 Congrats on all your acceptances!! I think the best path depends on your career goals. If you want to work as a bedside nurse, a BSN is a solid choice. But if you're aiming for leadership roles or specialized practice, an MSN may be a better option. I'm interested in acute care, but it can be more challenging to enter as a new grad without experience. I've also heard hospitals tend to prefer BSN graduates for acute care positions over MSN-prepared nurses. Though I'm not entirely sure how widespread this preference is.
  10. Thanks so much @lunarswan for your input! The Boston city vibe is definitely what's the compelling factor, given that the program will be 3+ years. UPenn is such a great school though!! @yara28 Congratulations to you as well! Certainly a good problem to have right? ? Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it to the in-person student weekend since I'm in CA. Will you be going? Would love to hear your input if you do! I also agree with the smaller cohort and the 100% NCLEX pass rate. I think the prestige and the networking can't be surpassed at UPenn. However, after speaking with some fellow nurses here, their input is that your experience is what matters in the long run. My perspective is that Boston has so many world-class hospitals that there's higher chances of placement into one of them post RN licensure. When I spoke with the admissions POC, she mentioned that all their students were able to secure a per diem role after licensure. Can I ask what your specialty is? I'm also debating between BC and MGH because of specialty. BC doesn't unfortunately have an acute-gero specialty whereas MGH does. Did you also apply to MGH? Thanks in advance!
  11. @Patrick Spaulding Ryan Thank you so much for taking the time out and providing your perspective! Those are certainly points I've considered. I think one of my main considerations was family life in Philly. Many folks have mentioned that Boston would be a better city to live in and explore compared to Philly. So for me, it's mostly family life vs academics purely. Thank you again.
  12. Hello! I'm just wondering, for those who have been accepted - have any of you also applied to Boston College and was accepted for their direct-entry MSN/NP Program? I'm having a hard time debating which one of the two to attend now after doing some more thinking. Would love to hear some thoughts if in a similar boat. Thank you! ?
  13. Hello @Hopeful1005, I'm stuck in a similar dilemma. I've been accepted into BC, MGH, and UPenn. Boston College is a fantastic school and I've heard great things about their program. Have you attended their new student webinars? I've had a really great experience getting information from their admissions and they have been so helpful. The main factor for me is that BC offers two MSN degrees at the end of three years. Did you apply for the MSN generalist/MSN NP Program? I'm not completely familiar with MGH's program at this point (probably should be), but I don't believe their confer a BSN or MSN degree at the end of the first year. You are conferred one MSN for NP degree. However, you do get exposure to MGH, which is one of the best hospitals in the world. That being said, BC also would allow you to do clinical rotations at great hospitals in the Boston area. Can I ask what your specialty is for BC if you also applied to the NP portion? I'm also torn with UPenn because it's a great program. However, I'm wondering if there's any difference with an MPN degree from Penn vs an MSN degree from BC after the first year.
  14. Hello Everyone! Quick question about the MPN program at Penn. Does anyone know whether there is any difference between an MPN vs MSN program? I was also accepted into Boston College's direct entry. They confer an MSN after the first 12 months and an MSN NP following completion of the second portion. Any insight is greatly appreciated! Thanks ?
  15. Hi there! There is another thread here: https://allnurses.com/university-pennsylvania-masters-nursing-msn-t763266/?page=2&tab=comments#comment-8247655 I also received my decision yesterday. If you haven't seen an email yet, maybe try logging directly into the portal to see? Good luck!
