Accepted Accelerated Johns Hopkins Students
Thanks for the congrats nycacoustic and peachy! I was so stressed about the decision, but now that I've decided I am able to relax more and just get excited about getting started. What a tough choice though! Peachy- I'm going into the accelerated program... heard its going to be pretty hectic to say the least. I'll be sure to sign up in the yahoo group - great idea. These forums have really helped throughout this whole decision process and will be great for information leading into the program. Good luck everyone :)

Accepted Accelerated Johns Hopkins Students
Congrats Peachy! I'm so excited for you :) I too am getting very excited about Hopkins. After a Lot of consideration I have chosen Hopkins over the others because everyone says such great things about the program. I am a bit nervous about the transition, but am very excited to start this career path. Good luck with the financial situation... I think its going to be hard on all of us for quite a few years but it will pay off in the end! I'll be at the accepted students day on March 3rd. Looking forward to it and to meeting you all. Congrats again!

Waiting on a letter from Yale(GEPN) and Columbia(ETP)???
Congrats lovingpecola!! :yelclap: Looks like the acceptance list is growing! Here are some of my thoughts.... A big part of me wants to go to Columbia, not only for its ivy league status but also to live in NYC! There are many different options and opportunities for clinicals and they seem to prepare you very well as a nurse. I've heard job opporunities are endless after you graduate and that the pay is better in NYC compared to most areas (however the living expenses are higher too). However, I have definitely heard mixed feelings about the program. I think the old program director was not very good, but I believe someone better has now taken over. I have also heard some of the faculty is not all that helpful and available to students overall. Another big concern of mine is the tuition. It is Very expensive and lord knows the living expenses will be outrageous too. Yale seems to offer a great program, but I also heard its in a bad area. I don't know quite as much about Yale as Columbia, but I'm sure you can't really go wrong at Yale. Again, I'm also considering johns hopkins which I have also visited and was very impressed with their facility and program overall... but have also heard the school is in a bad area. This decision is So difficult, but I'm sure we all can't go wrong wherever we end up. Good luck everyone!!

Waiting on a letter from Yale(GEPN) and Columbia(ETP)???
Hi everyone... I'm new to this thread, but I am also an applicant to Yale and Columbia. I have only received letters from johns hopkins and vanderbilt and am happy to say I got into both! I'm still waiting on Yale and Columbia and know I'm going to have a hard time deciding on where to go if I get admitted to either. Any opinions?? I had a phone interview with Yale that I feel went very well... but I was hoping to get some feedback from someone who actually went to visit the school. I have heard that the facility does not live up to its name -- is that true?? What an intense time... good luck everyone!

Direct-entry MSN programs
Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum and have found it very helpful to browse through some posts. I've been doing A Lot of thinking about where I want to go to school and its starting to make me a little crazy I think.... such a big decision! I'm finally starting to hear from schools, and know I'll have to make a decision very soon. I have heard from johns hopkins and vanderbilt so far and have been accepted to both :)... so psyched. I'm still waiting to hear from columbia, yale and BC, but think the only school I would really want to consider over Johns Hopkins is Columbia which I haven't heard that much about in this forum. I was very impressed with John Hopkins when I visited, but am not sure about the hospital and the area itself. I visited Columbia as well and can definitely see myself in NYC, but I'm not sure I think the school is as good as Hopkins. Does anyone have any advice about how the schools compare or their own personal experiences with the schools? I'd really appreciate any advice. Here I thought getting in would be the toughest part... but deciding where to go is difficult too!
