  1. From my experience I hired a lawyer immediately as soon as I was notified from the board but before an investigator contacted me. I knew the generalized complaint, but I didn't know the extent and the lawyer was able to file paperwork to get a more concrete reason for the complaint. The lawyer helped me put together a mitigation package and prepped me for possible questions from the investigator. But even with all that I was not prepared for the investigative interview. It was shocking whether you're innocent or guilty. You feel the need to defend yourself and could inadvertently say things that you aren't able to take back and having that lawyer there was so beneficial. Even after the investigative interview, I still wasn't sure which way it would go, but months later, I received the notice that the complaint was dismissed. Though I was innocent I do believe that I would not have been able to properly articulate myself to the investigator and possibly had a different outcome so all that to say....get a lawyer now. make sure you do your research before you hire an attorney because not all attorneys specialize in dealing with licensing issues. And as a commentor mentioned before about following this thread for years, we've all read stories about nurses hiring the first or cheapest lawyer, who did not have a clue how to deal with the nursing board and it normally did not work out well for them.
  2. Hi there. I haven't used this Dr. myself but this is what came up when I was searching. https://www.mentalhealthctr.com/brn-psychological-evaluation/ hope this helps.
  3. Thank you for that information, I appreciate It. That's why I wanted to do my own instead of waiting for the board to mandate it because I've heard stories of nurses being mandated and the ones the BRN approves gives them a SUD seemingly to get them into their facility. I figured if I have my own and one of theirs and they are different then there's a problem.
  4. Thank you for that. Are you able to PM me with who you used?
  5. I don't have a case manager. I wanted to get this done on my own as I've read some posts about an unprecedented amount of people are diagnosed with a SUD when they may have actually have one. So if I have my own I could use it as a comparison. I hope that makes sense.
  6. OK I'm trying that but still not finding anything. Thank you though for the information.
  7. Thank you. I haven't been able to see It, I only say the list of approved support groups. Please do send what you have. Thank you again.
  8. Does anyone have any recommendations for BRN approved mental/physical exam providers in Southern CA, near Riverside County? I don't want to waste time or money on a person(s) the board won't approve. Please PM me as I know we can't post providers/lawyers in posts. TIA!
  9. Hi, I'm under investigation for unprofessional conduct and yes I'll keep it vague. Have any of you requested character letters from colleagues or past employers and how did you go about It? Are these individuals contacted even if they are not related to the situation (not working with you during the event etc…). Does the board or investigator even read these? Does it help? Thank you all for up or time.
  10. Hi all, Has anyone used RN Guardian in regards to a BRN investigation? Or can you recommend a competent CA licensed attorney? I have read too many stories of nurses going with a company to only feel like they wasted money, the attorney wasn't helpful or did not seem they helpful at all. There are many law groups who say they have experience and provide glowing reviews but the reviews have the same verbiage or dated? TIA
