U.S. Army Graduate Program in Anesthesia Nursing (USAGPAN) - 2026
Hello! Congrats on getting accepted. I'm from the current 2025 Cohort here. In terms of uniforms, you are responsible for purchasing your uniforms. There is a $600 uniform allowance but you won't receive it until weeks into training. But just a heads up, I spent well over $3000 for uniforms/boots/patches alone. I have my patches sewn at the military clothing store on base. When we arrived in San Antonio on January 27, 2025 (report date), we had about 2 weeks before we got shipped to Oklahoma for DCC. During those 2 weeks here in SATX, there was one day (day 2 or 3) where we all went to the Military Clothing Store at JBSA to purchase our OCPs, etc. I would suggest to have at least 3 pairs. I didn't know that there was a Summer OCP and a Winter OCP. You'll know the difference when you see them. Summer is hot and humid here in SATX and it is extremely cold (for me) when we were in Oklahoma for DCC... so that's one thing you have to consider. I purchased some items on the packing list while I was still at my hometown last year before moving to SATX but there were so many stuff that I ended up not using because either they updated the packing list or I have purchased the wrong items (which at that time I thought were the right ones). I used to live near an air force base so I had mistakenly bought some air force apparel which I was not aware at that time. LOL.. I'd suggest to just wait until January when you are finally here in TX to purchase everything with the guidance of USAGPAN leaders. This is just based off my experience coming in as a Civilian without any knowledge at all on how everything works. They would also give you time to purchase uniforms in Oklahoma during DCC but I purchased mine and completed the list before I drove to OK. During those two weeks prior to DCC, you will be filling out a lot of paperwork for DEERS, etc. You will have to do them again in Oklahoma. Make sure all info are correct and accurate on those forms especially the complete names of dependents and their SSNs. My spouse had to go to the office here on base to process her dependent ID as well. The report date for our cohort was 27 Jan 2025 and I did not get my CAC until 4 Feb 2025. My spouse received the dependent ID on 5 Feb 2025. I reported to DCC on 9 Feb 2025. Just to give you a timeline... With insurance, your dependents can choose either Tricare Prime or Tricare Select. Yours would be Prime. With Tricare select, you have more freedom to choose a provider that does not necessarily practice on base but out-of-pocket costs and annual deductible are higher than that of Prime. There will be a phone number provided once you enroll your dependents. They should be able to walk you through the process. This won't happen until after report date on your orders. Hope that helps.

Thank you so much for the info. Hope you all are having a wonderful holiday with your families!

US Army Graduate Program in Anesthesia Nursing (USAGPAN) FY2025
What is a holiday block leave? Is it a mandatory leave USAGPAN students take since there are no classes for 2 weeks? Are you allowed to go out-of-state to visit family during the holidays? Thanks

Thanks for the info! Another question if any of you can give me insight with regards to lodging. I read something about TLE (Temporary Lodging Expense). Am I entitled for TLE if it is my first PCS with family? I looked up lodging (IHG hotels on post) for JBSA for January for a family of 4 and there are no availability. Can I book a hotel off post then and get reimbursed (TLE)? Or use BAH. Just a little confused.

Thank you! Do you have dates for your Phase 2? I was wondering if you all get a break between Phase 1 and 2 (specially for those moving out of SATX to other clinical sites)?

Yes about BOLC schedule, 32SoulPatrolRN posted this on Sept: "It kind of varies week to week for BOLC, the first week you have a lot of in processing briefs that are at 0900 and then within the first two weeks you have height/weight they for us was a 0330 start time and then a record ACFT at 0400 one you start combatives it's a 0600-0700ish start to the morning then usually in class by like 0900 until 1700 depending on your instructor last three weeks of BOLC you'll be in the field at camp Bullis M-F and the home on Saturday/Sunday - so it varies you do get a break, so for us in direct accessions we finished BOLC 14 May this year and we had time off until 31 May - on 31 May the whole class had to be present for accountability, direct accession and LTHET and then first official day of class was 3 June ." ----Hope it helps! Not sure though about the schedule during Phase 1. I'd like to find out more about it as well.

US Army Graduate Program in Anesthesia Nursing (USAGPAN) FY2025
This is a relief. I hope it'll be the same for FY25. When I read my orders, I really thought I'd be at an Army hotel til end of BOLC which will be difficult when my family will be moving with me in January. Thanks for the info! How long is the training at Camp Bullis? Our orders has 2 Phases of BOLC. Phase 1 is 8 weeks (Mar to May). Phase 2 is 2 weeks (in May).

I have a question with lodging. The orders says to report to the Army Hotel at Fort Sam Houston for lodging. It sounded like students will be housed there during BOLC. But what happens to our dependents? My family will be moving with me in January. Does this mean they'll have to live separately while I'm in BOLC. Do they get BAH? I'm not sure who to ask.

Hi! Has anyone of you signed your contracts yet? I just did mine 2 days ago and took the Oath of Office same day. I have received an email today along with 9 other future USAGPAN students indicating that there still might be items that are needed to continue moving our packets forward. I am contacting my recruiter to find out about the timeline on processing and receiving orders. They say 90-120days but I hope it's not the case for those onboarding for USAGPAN. Any input will help. Thanks!

US Army Graduate Program in Anesthesia Nursing (USAGPAN) FY2025
Hello! I got an email along with the rest of us who got accepted for USAGPAN 2025 this morning. The email contains the tentative dates for DCC (February) and BOLC (March-May) 2025. It looks like there will be a 3-week break between end of BOLC and before USAGPAN Phase 1 report date. Anybody knows if we are allowed to go out-of-state (to visit extended family) during that time? Or are we required to just stay in San Antonio the entire time? Thanks!

Hi! Any good apartment/townhouse recommendations to those who live off-post? What areas around Fort Sam Houston should my family and I avoid? Just looking up housing as early as now in case I don't get a spot on base next year. @TXRN2CRNA I don't think there is a facebook page created for our group (USAGPAN 2025) yet. I've been basically asking questions on this thread. I get a lot of helpful tips from those who have already started the program. Thanks to them?

@ RNMedic553 Wow this is good to know. Thanks so much for all the helpful info. ? I just had a zoom meeting for future soldiers/officers yesterday with my local recruiting team. They talked a little bit about Military life and Military benefits. I'm excited to start but nervous at the same time. Thanks to you, SoulPatrol, MikeyD for all the info and support in this feed. You guys are awesome!

@32SoulPatrolRN Wow. Basing from your family's experience, I can tell that it's going to be a big adjustment for me and my family. I hope my wife and kids can transition smoothly. Anyone here know when I am actually going to be considered "Active Duty"? Is it when I receive orders in Nov/Dec or next year when we move to TX? Is there a formal ceremony/ oathtaking that my family can witness or is it only in the movies? LOL! Thanks

US Army Graduate Program in Anesthesia Nursing (USAGPAN) FY2025
THANKS for the info! Thinking if my family will have to move with me in January or if I should just go first in January and have them move in March when BOLC starts. From my understanding, DCC is going to be in Oklahoma around February (based on your timelime this year), so I don't wanna leave my family for a month in San Antonio while I'm in OK. I have 2 little kids and a wife who is also a nurse. Coming from out-of-state... Did y'all move in Jan or last December?

What is the typical daily schedule for BOLC? Is it from 8am to 4pm daily? Does it end on mid-May? I wanted to know how long is the break (if any) between BOLC and actual USAGPAN start (June). Thanks!

Not yet! Another waiting game.. I got a lengthy zoom interview though with a background investigator from the DCSA just verifying all the countries I've traveled to. I had to show all the stamps in my passport. Also got a few questions about my siblings as well as my wife's family (background). My recruiter says it's for the security clearance.

Also, I believe the shadow/interview and recommendation letters written by Phase II Army CRNAs weighed heavily on the selection process. I was told that I did really well on that. Also, I have been an ICU nurse on MICU/SICU, became part of the hospital's code blue and rapid response team, preceptor, charge nurse, SWAT (lines team) RN, Oncology ICU, then transitioned to Travel Nursing during the pandemic. I worked in Neuro ICUs and some trauma ICUs on my travel contracts over Northern and Southern CA, Arizona, and Nevada. I floated everywhere I was needed and had great recommendation letters from supervisors and peers from all the different hospitals I was assigned to. To those who didn't make it, strengthen your portfolio and keep trying. ? There is always room to grow. I kept getting waitlisted at other private schools I have applied to until this opportunity to join the Army and USAGPAN was introduced to me. It's been years of applying back and forth with all the schools and I almost lost hope. In fact, I have applied for USAGPAN late (in May) and was just lucky to get a last minute spot to shadow/interview. I really thought I would not make it to the cut off. There is always hope guys. Never give up on your dream of becoming a CRNA and serving the country. A big congratulations to all those who made it. This is only the beginning.
