Hey, our cohort started May 28 with classes. Orientation was the week before on May 20th. Classes usually start the day after Memorial Day from what I've seen, no matter the year.

I agree with what the other person said, I'm currently in the program; honestly, the only thing that makes it difficult for me personally is the time management aspect. The content isn't relatively difficult to grasp, and the instructors will tell you what you need to focus on for the exams and what you don't (usually....). When you have exams back to back AND clinical AND you're in class full time (not to mention spending time to take care of yourself!), then yes it gets hard to study. Also, you will have an exam once a week at the very least, and at most there might be one single period where you have three exams in one week. Yes it sucks and it feels like hell, but you'll get through it. Some people study little by little every night (read their class notes, make study guides, etc), some people read the textbook, some people literally study the day before an exam. No method is incorrect, and I've known students who've utilized each method and have gotten As. My best advice to you is to find what works for you early on and stick to that. Yes, study with others and take advice from them if you're struggling. But if you find a method that works for you and your friend, Student B, has a different way that works for them, stick to what YOU know. I feel like there's very little time to experiment with study methods and as long as you're doing well and understanding the material, then there is no incorrect way to study. My preferred method is honestly making flashcards LOL. Many students have advised against them for themselves because, yes, some material you can't memorize and its more conceptual. However, flashcards are what help me form a basic grasp of the material. I reinforce it by teaching it back to myself, family, and friends, and then doing practice problems/scenarios. I finished the semester with all As. I definitely went into the program with strong sense of apprehension and fear, and as soon as I took my first exam I was like "oh! this isn't bad at all!" Stay on top of your work, communicate with professors, form a productive study group. Do whatever you can to stay on top of your grades and work EARLY. Doing well early on also leaves more wiggle room to score not-as-highly on the last few exams, considering that's the time students feel the most burnt out.

Do you have the URL for the portal? I tried logging in to the MyJefferson portal using my school email and password but some error message pops up, and then using my personal email gets me access to the application.

TJU offers some housing! I went to see some of the options a few months ago, one building offered suites and 1 bedrooms for like 1400. Theyre OK but to be honest you can probably get a suite for cheaper. The kitchen in the model I saw was quite small. I'm also researching still but its tricky!

Anyone from out of state/out of town start looking for apartments yet? Hows that process going for everyone? I kinda started but its been hard to budget personally since I know I'm gonna rely on FAFSA which isn'teven open yet... how bout yall?

Are yall applying to any scholarships? I started hunting for some but many of them require students to be enrolled in an ABSN and have grade transcripts ready prior to applying. It's frustrating!

Academia in general is corrupt and sucks but we make the most of it. It's a 12 month program. We all have one goal in mind: to get our BSN and gtfo, and pursue our main interests. Will we struggle? Probably. Will we hate the program? Possibility. Are there better, cheaper ABSN programs with short time spans? Subjective, but could be unlikely. I appreciate the warning but tbh its not gonna change my mind and probably won't change anyone else's. But thank you again, the input from another perspective was helpful

It doesn't mean anything that they're accredited to 2031 if their average keeps dropping, which is why I don't know why the dean even mentioned that haha. Probably to reassure us, but still! What would reassure us is straight answers. I'm hoping she'll respond to me sometime next week. I could potentially ask one of the admissions reps for the DNP/MSN programs, but you're right, they're probably gonna be tight-lipped regarding the accreditation issue.

That's definitely true as well. All of them are going to be super hard, have high fees if you miss clinical, and will push you to your limits. I saw Drexel's scores as well, I mean they're definitely unmatched when compared to TJU. Drexel also frequently changes their curriculum, based on what I've read. Probably why they have a good pass rate. But that exit examination scares me. Studying for midterms, NCLEX, and the exit exam is going to be absolutely brutal. But it seems it offers the best prep for the NCLEX. While all ABSN programs are going to be stressful nonetheless, I do want a program that's going to be suitable for my learning speed and needs. None of these programs are meant to prep you for a nursing job, but to pass your boards. Resuming search for another ABSN means, for me, more prerequisites. And I really don't want to pay anywhere from $500-$2000 for an additional prereq for a school I MAY not even end up going to. It's frustrating! Also, FAFSA literally opens next month.

Also I forgot to respond to some of this, the score mapping makes a bit more sense now, thanks!! Its just anxiety-inducing that they keep dipping into provisional. While it is unlikely they'll lose it fully, like you said, its a huge gamble. So if its still in provisional status, its also still fully accredited, correct? At least, that's what the Dean keeps saying. So even if we were to dip into that provisional status again sometime next year, I wonder if it would have any effect on obtaining an MSN or DNP? I had been planning to pursue one of the DNP programs afterward, especially since TJU has automatic acceptance into their programs following the BSN-RN. I don't even know who to ask about this that would give me a straight answer, aside from another current student or nurse.

I mentioned to the admissions rep that I had already asked the Dean so hopefully she doesn't defer me back to her LOL. All day I've been trying to think of a reply to the Dean until now. I emailed her too and re-asked my questions. I didn't ask about the deposit, but I asked her if I were to consider deferment, how would I go about that route and is there a deadline to consider it. That's the LEAST they can provide us. I'm sure they don't want to lose any money since they're a big institution with partnerships all around the state and even in northern DE, so I'm not surprised they were tight-lipepd about it. However, its still SUPER sh*tty of them to conceal this. My hope is that they'll push more money into study prep like they said and actually invest in giving a f about the students, since all nursing programs really care about is boasting their NCLEX score. I also started looking into Drexel and they have an 11-mo program. But tbh, theirs looks even more disorganized based on the reviews. It has good reviews and it looks like the education is strong, it just seems like a bit more rigor than TJU. But I'm keeping my options open at this point.

The dean gave me the exact same email and honestly, it slightly reassured me but pissed me off. I asked very specific questions as to when exactly does the recertification period end, would we be notified, would the deposit still be nonrefundable in the events accreditation is lost, would I be able to defer, etc. She just said "I want to assure you that the college has worked on this and I am happy to report that our pass rate for 10/1/22 to 9/30/23 has improved to 90%. We are currently awaiting notification from the PA State Board of Nursing that our program has returned to full approval status. Please know that all of our graduates are fully credentialed with a BSN, able to sit for the national boards, and that our college is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education for 10 years through 2031." This is a very PR response to me and did not directly answer my questions. In other words, it read "we've never lost accreditation before so we'll be fine, don't worry! Hope this answers your questions!" Like... not really LOL. I would like to make plans and entertain the "what ifs." I emailed my admissions counselor instead my questions ? I was also looking into deferrment, just to have a backup, so we'll see.

I'm honestly so jaded with all institutions at this point given my own undergrad experiences, I thought TJU would be the lesser of the evils LOL. It was also one of the shortest programs I found in the NJ, PA, and DMV areas. I wanted to get in and out, have a straightforward education, and not have to move across the country.
