Endorsement in California
Hi! I'm also looking to get licensed in CA. I graduated from Canada and took the NCLEX here. I started my endorsement application at the end of Sept 2022 and I received my deficiency letter in May of this year. Does anyone know if everyone who received a deficiency letter had to take the courses or is there a way to appeal?

Braving the CA BON
Hi! I came across this thread and I'm also wondering how other international nurses got their CA license after receiving a deficiency letter. Have you seen any other posts here pertaining to this matter?

Hi, I'm in a similar situation right now but in addition to Anatomy, they want me to take 6 other classes. How did you go about your case?

CA BRN deficiency course- psychiatric nursing; international nurse
Hi, try Cerritos College. I reached out to them today because I need to take Peds nursing clinical component. The person I spoke to on the phone said they might not offer it but the person that replied to my email said they do. But it's based in space availability so I was told it might take a couple of semesters to get in.

(Canadian) US RN License Endorsement to California
Thank you so much for being so helpful! I've got some good info from your responses that I can discuss with my case manager and immigration lawyer. I'm still waiting for a response from my BRN evaluator. Thanks again!

(Canadian) US RN License Endorsement to California
Hi, thank you so much for your response and the resources. One of the schools I called offered Pediatrics with OB and I couldn't just take Peds. I've been doing some research while I wait for the response of my evaluator and my case manager from the agency, but I haven't found anything that says I can take classes under the TN Visa. Did you come across anything relating to the visa required to take classes as a foreign nurse while you were doing your own research?

Canadian RN applying to California BRN
Hi everyone! I'm an RN from Canada currently in the process of applying for a license in California and I received the deficiency letter with quite an overwhelming list. I hope to speak to someone who has gone through this processs or is currently going through it. I graduated from the University of Manitoba with my BSN in 2016 and I'm looking to work in California as an RN and hopefully settle there as well. Through an agency, I found an employer in February of 2022, got my CGFNS Visa Screen, crossed the border by plane and was issued my TN visa at the airport, and applied for my SSN immediately upon arrival in california in September of 2022. I applied to the California BRN in September. Fast forward to May of 2023 after a lot of waiting and back and forth with the BRN, I received the deficiency letter. I need to take Pediatric Nursing, Anatomy Lab, Physiology Lab, Microbiology Lab, Social Sciences, Oral and Written Communications. I was surprised to see such a long list of deficiencies especially for the Sciences because I've already taken them. I reached out to my school and they sent an updated Breakdown of Education form along with a letter to explain that I've already taken those classes. July 2023 and the status update for my application online says they reviewed the updated education document and I'm still deficient in ALL of the classes they previously listed! Has anyone else dealt with this? How did you take care of the Pediatric nursing clinical component?

(Canadian) US RN License Endorsement to California
Hi, @hypnotizer90! I know this post is 2 years old but I'm in the same situation right now as you were 2 years ago. I applied for my RN license with the CA BRN and received my deficiency letter in May of 2023. There were 7 deficiencies including Pediatrics, Anatomy, Physiology and Microbiology lab components, Social Sciences and Oral and Written Communications. It doesn't make sense to me why I need to retake the Sciences that I've already taken but I'm sorring that out right now. My main concern is the Pediatrics. Did you successfully complete the Pediatrics and if you did, may I ask where you took it from? Thanks!
