  1. I heard that as well when looking at past threads on CHOP, but it was a virtual video interview with the person in charge of the residency program.
  2. Thank you so much. Actually it's the beginning of February. I wish it was March though.
  3. I emailed the recruiter yesterday morning asking for an update. She reached out to me this morning and let me know I got the job?. I graduated May 2023, but started working this March.
  4. Hello. @NewNurseling2024Thank you so much for creating this thread because I couldn't find anything recent. I also applied to med surge. I interviewed the last week of October and was told I would hear back by the end of last week, but I haven't heard anything back yet.
  5. I saw on a FB nursing page that they are in a hiring freeze. Unfortunately, people's job offers are being cancelled or put on hold and some current workers are losing their jobs. I haven't seen anything about nurse residency though, but I feel like this situation might affect it.
  6. When you guys received phone calls from TCH, did you pick up the phone or did they leave a message and you called back later?
  7. When did you apply? I haven't seen anything for residency there, but then again I only started looking last week.
  8. I applied to HCA for the Spring 2024 residency and the same thing happened. They told us they didn't have details on dates or spots open but they would put us on the list. I never heard anything back from them but someone on an allnurses thread said all positions were filled when they talked to the recruiter. I thought it was just because it was HCA, but apparently not?
  9. The link didn't work for me, but Ms. Jones sent it to me about 2 hrs after I applied. I assume because it was a weekday I got it sooner so maybe you'll get yours on Monday
  10. Yeah that happened to me too. I withdrew and submitted again yesterday.
  11. Yeah I ended up withdrawing and doing it again. It just sucks because I was so happy to do it early yesterday
  12. Do you guys think if you did it as 3 separate PDF files that it would be a problem? I really don't want to re do the app
  13. For anyone who didn't get into a residency program, I saw that St. Luke's has openings. It says it's only for the medical center and the woodlands. There are 17 openings that seem like they're the same thing except for whether it's day or night shift and one for cardiac ICU. Also as a heads up, they don't list what specialties they have open.
  14. My theory is that many people were hired from job fairs, already worked for HCA, or were people who had connections with the hiring staff. Because how can you say you don't even know the start dates and will notify us then all of a sudden all the positions are filled (except med surg of course)? It just doesn't make sense
  15. Was the recruiter referring to all locations or specifically the location you applied to?
  16. For me personally I'm from here, but I went to college in DC. It probably would have been easier to get into residency or a get a job there in terms of connections and favoring our students. However, the cost of living is very high so I made the decision to move back here. I do agree that it has become more expensive here, but a lot of people say it's cheaper here than where they're from (based on the people I met in college). The other main reason people said they wanted to come here was because they want to live in a warmer climate.
  17. Has anyone talked with a recruiter from the woman's hospital or gotten an interview?
  18. Yeah I did. The first time I got a match day interview for children's memorial hermann but didn't get the job. TCH was the last to reach out and asked if I wanted my last choice on the survey. This time I applied to the same two and have gotten no interviews. However I decided to apply to HCA and have talked with a recruiter ( they said they're putting me on the list of interested candidates once they find out start dates and number of openings). Word of advice from when I attended the Harris Health webinar for last cohort. "These hospitals only have max like 5 openings for units and usually have a lot less. However they interviewing hundreds". I think the best option is to consider a unit you may not like at the hospital you want and maybe work your way up. Also consider a job at a hospital you wouldn't usually consider (like I with HCA) or do something outside the hospital and gain experience because it's really hard to get into these residencies especially if you don't have connections
  19. No they are not. I was kind of hoping maybe a miracle will happen and they will change their mind but I dunno. I still applied anyway, but tbh I really don't want to do any of the units they posted.
  20. Can anyone who attended confirm? Or know any contact information for those in charge of the program?
  21. I ended up not attending because the unit I want will not be in the fall cohort. These are the units they will have: The following units will be hiring Nurse Residents for the October 2023 cohort: Cancer Center 7WT- Hematology and Oncology 9WT- Hematology and Oncology Bone Marrow Transplant Heart Center Cardiac Intensive Care Unit Adult Congenital Heart Department Cardiac Patient Care Unit Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Emergency Center Medical Center location Woodlands Campus West Campus Dialysis Acute Care 10 WT -Neurology 14WT- Pulmonary/Adolescent/Endocrine 15WT-Primary Hospital Medicine West Campus Woodlands Campus
  22. I did see that there is a hiring event on June 7th from 9 am-2 pm. For those who are new grads like me, we are allowed to go as well. They will be giving tours and allow us to network.
