  1. Congratulations! And good luck
  2. Application submitted when it opened up and still under review.
  3. Hi all here's the update that they sent out via email just in case someone needs it: Contact info, Done: Angeli and me! our contact info is below. Please feel free to email with questions about the application process and be sure to include us both in your email. We will be available to you at any point during the selection process through the start of the program on October 19, 2026. Timeline: I share this with you now to be able to make plans in case you have testing dates, travel plans, moving plans, etc. Please note, if you are offered a position for this residency cohort, you must be available to attend a physical and drug screen within 45 days of the start date. Generally, these appointments are in the Santa Barbara / Ventura area, but out-of-area appointments are possible on an as needed basis. If you are already an employee of Cottage Health, you do not need a new physical/drug screen. During the next 2 weeks: As the team completes the initial application review, we may reach out to you individually for additional information or clarification. Please watch your email for direct messages. In an effort to be transparent, I can share we had just under 900 applications for about 25 spots. We again find ourselves with a competitive applicant group. Between now and Friday, August 7, the team will review every application and determine which candidates will proceed to the next step: Hiring Department Fair If you are selected to move to this phase, you will receive an email from me that includes a link to schedule your attendance on August 19, 2026, between the hours of 1:30pm - 4:00pm. The Fair will be held in-person at the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital Campus (400 W. Pueblo Street, Santa Barbara, CA, 93105). During this event, you will have the opportunity to network with all hiring teams and leave your RN Portfolio with up to 3 departments of your choice. You can expect to spend 1 hour at The Fair. If you are invited to this next step, it is highly recommended that you attend in person, but there will be a "virtual option" available. If you are not selected to join us for the Hiring Department Fair, you will receive an update from the application system via email. August 19 – Hiring Department Fair August 20 – beginning of September– Residency Matching Process and department interviews All offers will be made via phone before late September. Declinations will be communicated via email. There may be a waitlist of alternate candidates as well. Mid-September through mid-October: onboarding paperwork, drug screens and physicals 10/19/2026: RN Residency start date (10/18/2026 start date for current Cottage employees) Training and preceptorships last 10 – 20 weeks, depending on the unit to which you are hired. If you have something else scheduled during these first few months (e.g., a wedding, a family trip to Europe, etc.) and you will not be able to commit to the training schedule, please consider withdrawing from this round and applying for a future Residency. Tasks to consider if they are not already complete: If you have not yet received your California RN license, please remember to update us when your test is scheduled and again when you get that exciting notification that you passed the NCLEX or received your endorsement. You will need your California RN license in-hand by Monday, 10/12/26 to begin on 10/19/26. An endorsed, temporary license from another state is acceptable; an interim CA permit is not. At minimum, you need your BLS certification from the American Heart Association (not Red Cross). ACLS, PALS, and NRP are optional but should also be from the AHA. If you have different certifications, please work toward obtaining your AHA certs between now and the start date.
