  1. I had all A's in my pre-reqs. I'm not sure what the cutoff was but I know someone who got accepted late and had a C in one of the pre-reqs. I would just try to get the best grades you can. I did my CNA at Critical Care Training Center in North Hollywood. Good luck. And just so you know the LVN program is really demanding so be prepared to do a ton of studying.
  2. How was the LVN program? I think you should be about finished now. I am starting the program later this month so I'm curious how it went for you.
  3. You're not too old. You can do it! I am also in Southern California and starting my LVN program in my 40's. I figure as long as we don't die, we'll be 50 soon whether we are a nurse or not. Might as well be a 50 year old nurse if that is your dream. My advice is to try to go the community college route. If you go private, at least take your pre-reqs at community college. That way you'll avoid headaches if you decide to bridge to RN later. I have also had a lot of RNs tell me to skip LVN and go straight to RN, but for me the LVN route is more practical. I can start working after just a year and bridge to RN afterwards. It is hard to commit to 2 years of full time school in Southern California when bills are so high. Good luck to you! You can do it!
  4. Yes it was my first time applying. I was lucky to have all A's for my pre-reqs. I have no idea what the cutoff was to get in this round. When I talked to a counselor a long time ago she mentioned they look for Bs and better.
  5. I'm sorry you didn't get in. I'm sure you don't want to do this, but Pasadena lets you retake your prereqs for a higher grade. Good luck next time. I don't know why it's soooo darn hard to get into nursing school. Keep at it. And also I think Rio Honda uses a lottery system so you might want to consider applying there as well next time.
  6. FYI, I got my acceptance e-mail on May 23rd and they gave me until May 31st to give them my decision. I am assuming they have contacted everyone who got in by now, but everyone should know for sure by the end of the month.
