  1. hi! i am in the same boat. i started lpn school in july. i am just finishing up a&p 2, next week is it. i start my first nursing class on sept 5th and i am so scared. i have a 4.0 so far, but i know it is going to get much harder. i do have support and that makes a huge difference. i go to brown mackie in ky and it is very expensive. so far it is wonderful. the teachers are awesome and i feel like i am learning. i know it will be worth it in the end. regarding the tests everyday, same here. i study alot! i take notes in class, go home read the chapter, then type up all my notes and read them again and again. i also have a study buddy and that helps! if nursing is something that you really want to do, you will get thru it. there is extra help out there as well. i just got the rn nclex flash cards and kaplan book from a teacher. she said that even though it is the rn version, it will help out alot. it will help prepare me for the lpn nclex. i am so excited and feel very fortunate to be a part of something so wonderful. good luck to you! keep your chin up, no worries. find a stress reliever to help you along too! if you ever want to chat or just vent you can feel free to send me a message! take care. lpn sept 2007 :balloons: sarah
  2. hello. Well, I live in Cincinnati but attend Brown Mackie College in Fort Mitchell KY. I am not sure of colleges or programs around Florence but Fort Mitchell is very close! I am attending their LPN program. It is open enrollment there but you have to maintain an 80% throughout the program to pass. I am in my second week of Anatomy and Physiolgoy I. I am loving it so far. Small classes and the instructor we have this time is wonderful!!!! I am really excited to be attending. It is quite expensive but from what I have heard and keep hearing, well worth it! I applied at Beckfied college but as I am sure you read, I didn't even get an interview. So my goal now is to get thru LPN school and work as an LPN for awhile and then go back to get my RN. I wish you all the best! Keep us posted as to what you do regarding schooling. Good luck. :)
  3. Hi. I didn't get into the October class, just found out it is full. I didn't even get the chance to interview. I am really bummed out but I am keeping a positive view. I am going to an LPN program in Ky starting in July. I am really excited. It is a 15 month program and they IV certify as well. It is expensive but I am not looking at cost, they have a good nclex pass success rate at all their other campuses(this campus just got the pn program last year) and it is a really small campus, 20 students per class I think. So, I will still be a nurse, work as an lpn for awhile and then go back for my RN. I will get there one day. Good luck in your classes!!!
  4. Hello! I do have some credits that will transfer I think. I know I will need the math! Thanks for the info on the class schedule. That helps me in determining when I can work once I go looking for a part time job. I heard that they are about to start calling for interviews for the October class. I am very nervous but soo excited! I am so ready for this program. Keep your fingers and toes crossed for me. I will let you know something as soon as I do! Thanks for all your support. Take care and good luck in your classes!
  5. Hi all! Thanks for your comments and the support! I know any nursing program is going to be very demanding and challenging. I am 35 as well and I am more than ready to accept that challenge. I am waiting on the call to set up my interview. I am very excited and pray that I get in. I wish you all the best of luck. Hey can you tell me what the hours of the program are? Are they Monday thru Friday during the day or does it vary? I am trying to decide what hours to do at work and was just curious. I am trying to not work at all, but don't know if that is financially possible. If I do work it won't be more than 15 hours per week. I appreciate any tips. Thanks again!!! Sarah
  6. Hello, I have posted here before but don't see my thread anymore? I just wanted to know if anyone has applied to or gone to Beckfield College in Florence KY? They have what sounds to be a great ADN program. I have applied for the October class. I am waiting to get my interview appointment. I am so stressed over waiting. I am almost 35 and want to get started in this field so badly. I work at a hospital in Cincinnati and love it. I just pray that I can get into this program. Does anyone know anything about Beckfield? I have heard a few good things but since the RN program is newer wanted to know if anyone has actually attended classes there? Thanks!
  7. Thank you both for your input. Very good information and I will check it all out. The nursing program does incorporate their science and math into the program, I just wanted to know if there was something I could do to try to get prepared before starting. I am very excited about doing nursing and look forward to a long and rewarding career.
  8. Hello all, I have been looking into LPN and RN programs for some time trying to decide which route I wanted to go or which was best for me at this time in my life. I am 34 mother of three. I have been out of high school since 1990 and have been going to college part time since 1998. I have approx 52 credits but none in the healthcare field. It took me some time to figure out that nursing was meant for me. Well, I found this great RN program in KY and applied. They don't require any pre reqs(chem or bio) which was a blessing for me! I sent them my transcripts and received a call the other day stating that they did accept my transcripts in place of the SAT scores and my next step would be to wait for a call to interview with nursing department for a possible spot in the October program( April is full). I am so excited you just don't know. However, I am very nervous since I have been out of school for so long. I did have biology, but never had chemistry and math is not a good subject for me. The other RN programs I looked into required me to have a year of Biology, two quarters of Chem and to do the Chem I would of had to take three math classes!!! OMG. That in itself stressed me to no end. So when I found this program I was very excited. I did check them out and so far they are on the up and up and I hear really good things about them. My big question is what can I do between now and October to prepare myself? I have the opportunity to take two more classes at the college I have been attending but they don't offer any beginners bio or chem this quarter. I would greatly appreciate any help anyone has to offer. Thanks so much!
  9. Thanks for sharing your information on Great Oaks. I am going to look into their program. Good luck to you in your new career!
  10. That is wonderful to know. I really hope I can get into their October class. Thanks for your input!
  11. Does anyone know anything about Beckfield college in Florence KY? They have an RN program that I am looking into. My friend received her Paralegal degree there and liked it. The RN progam sounds really good. Appreciate any feedback. Thanks
  12. Thanks for the info, it has helped! Beckfield college is in Florence KY. Very small college. A friend of mine received her Paralegal degree there but I just wondered about the RN program. It sounds really good so I think I am going to apply. Wish me luck!
  13. Hello, I live in Ohio. If I go to school in KY and obtain my RN degree there but want to work in Ohio what would I have to do once I have my license? Just curious. I am trying to look at all my options! Also does anyone know anything about Beckfield College in KY and their nursing program? Thanks again:mad:
  14. Thanks that does help. Thanks also for the website.
  15. Well the Brown Mackie college I am looking into is in Cincinnati. They just got the LPN program at that branch so they couldn't give me pass rates for that branch but did say the Findlay branch had a 96% pass rate. I don't know the pass rate for Great Oaks. So do you think I should put the cost aside if Brown Mackie has the better pass rate? I need to find out the other so I can compare. Thanks for the input!
