are you guys using it permanantly or just trialing it? we are only trialing it and it is not getting good reviews. hopefully it will be gone from our unit, i would hate to use it on a regular basis.

They were worried about infection, they were just concerned about how we were going to sterilize the setup. I have never seen it personally so I don't know what they are talking about. But this other set-up we are using seems similar to the vapo-therm or the one you mentioned. We are just so happy to have an alternative to CPAP. Now if we can just get rid of the nasal rated CPAP and that "hug n' snug"

Our unit was absolutely against it and we never used it, the nurses were devastated since our sister hospital was using it and gave rave reviews, but the other night i saw that we have rigged our own set-up and we are capable of breaking it down and sterilizing it, also I think we don't use as much heat. Anyway we like the new set-up and hopefully we will see more popping up.

I'm not quite sure we really need it, from a report that I found somewhere on the internet, I gathered that it was primarily beneficial in underdeveloped countries that had no CPAP or Survanta. We are a level III so I can't figure out why we would need it. I think we are experimenting with it to see if intubation can be avoided. No one seems to like it here ( well the ones who have to use it, nurses and RT, or the babies) but the neos are excited about it. I can find very little information it.

Yes prmenrs is correct. It is the chest splint. We are using it with CPAP and RT are the ones who have to apply the thing. I was just wondering if anyone has used it and if they like it or not. The idea is to keep the chest wall expanded to prevent them from severe retractions and hopefully off the vent.We have only used it once so it is hard to tell if it is effective from one use. The application process is real complicated and it looks uncomfortable, not sure I am convinced.Anyone with any feedback would be appreciated. thanks

Just wondering...Are there any NICU's out there trialing the "Hug N' Snug"? It is a chest splint we are using with our CPAP babies.. It is difficult to place on the baby and looks very uncomfortable. I've only seen it used once and don't know the outcome just yet. If there is anyone with any experience using this device, please post your experiences, opinions, outcomes. thanks
