Providence SoCal New Grad August 2026 Start
I thought I did poorly at my interview for SJO because I thought I spoke too quickly and my interview finished within 15-20 minutes out of the 30 minutes they give us. I was so nervous that I forgot to take my portfolio out of my bag to show them. What I did for prep was a lot of YouTube videos and practicing what I wanted to say about 2 weeks before the interviews with my husband. Even though he was not healthcare, it helped a lot to practice saying what was in my head out loud. I found videos from the Nursing Interview Coach on YouTube to be super helpful. https://www.YouTube.com/@NursingInterviewCoach I also did purchase her template to think of answers to commonly asked questions. It had helpful guides on practicing STAR interview question answering methods. Good luck in your journey to getting a residency spot!

Look at RO Health if you are interested in being a school nurse sub, pay isn't the best but I know they do take new grads no matter what their preferences/qualifications say. I had a friend apply as a new grad and they took her into the School Nurse Agency Registry.

I made a portfolio with Resume, Cover Letter, Letters of Recommendation, License and Certifications. I had it in my bag and was too nervous and didn't get a chance to give it to the panel. Yet somehow they still extended me an offer. It's great to have on hand, but definitely not necessary.

I Just got an email from SJO as well. I didn't get the unit I showed interest in. They assigned me Med Surg. I'm happy I got notified and am happy with any units. I was also asked to submit my SSN and DOB.

Oh no! I just hope this was a vibe check LOL so as long as they vibed with us they will hire. I practically read the case study back to them for SBAR except the meds pt takes at home cuz physician can see it.

The case study was tough. I wasn't sure if I even said the response they wanted to hear. A friend of mine who worked at MV before that they value high quality SBARs for their shift change reports so that could be why they leaned into that during the interview.

Mission told me next week they should have decisions Nope. It was different units than what they told us was available. I also asked one of the HR personnel and she said they're expecting to hire about 8-10 only. It's so competitive. They're interviewing about 5 people per time slot too

I am on the same boat of second guessing myself...We shall wait and see. This will be one of the longest 2-3 weeks until we get official notice.

I interviewed with MICU, Oncology, and Pulmonary unit managers. I hope we get call backs too. I wasn't told about the call backs so this is great info. I was told to wait the 2-3 weeks for the official notices. ;( I am tryin to stay as positive as I can and learning from this interview. The managers were extremely nice.

They didn't ask me for an SBAR. They gave me an SBAR and asked me what would I do, why, what are my concerns with this patient's new findings. I wished I had taken more time to go into more depth. I feel like I hit the key parts, but thought of more things after the interview. I think I spoke too fast cuz my interview ended in about 15-20 minutes.... I feel super nervous about that. They also told me that there was no unit manager meet up at the end. I wonder if SJO will have the unit managers call us before the official offer is sent. I have heard of some hospitals doing that.

Good luck to everyone with interviews! The interviews questions were easy and focuses on how you would handle situations. I am nervous because I felt like I sped through the interview and did not make good use of my 30 minutes. Hoping we all get a call back soon with good news :) They also gave us pen and paper to got down notes. I got 1 prioritization question with 4 patients and had to explain how I would juggle them and then 1 SBAR case study to verbalize the clinical judgement. They seem to interview in batches of 3 people in each time slot.
