ERI is an NCLEX preparation course that Jeff State (and whoever else) RN students take to better prepare them for the RN exam. I have been told that it is a bear of an exam, or at least is made so by Jeff State. My class- Summer '05- was the last one under the "old" curriculum. We had to take it, but it wouldn't count for/against us. I don't remember if all of us completed it. The next one- Fall '05 (?)- was the first one to deal with it as a requirement for graduation. I have heard from several students that the ERI has caused some of their compadres in several slasses who were passing their coursework to fail out of JSCC. Sounds pretty stupid to me, but that's the way JSCC wants it. ERI did provide a 3 or 4 day class that was basically a cram session/intensive review of NCLEX-likely material, or at least the general areas. I found that class to be helpful because they presented Q & A's that were generally like NCLEX questions. We could discuss the answers and rationale with the ERI instructor (NOT a Jeff State instructor) and gain at least a glimpse into the way the real question's thought process worked. I don't know if it helped me, but I passed 1st time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEAH, BABY!!!!!!!!! (Not bad for a 52 year old guy). Man, I NEVER want to do that again.

The Reserve recruiter told my ADN class: ADN: 2nd Lt, 1st Lt, Capt BSN: Major and above If I can lose some weight, I would like to be a waivered-in 52 year old 2nd Lt. That would hack off some guys in my Air National Guard unit off to HAVE TO SALUTE ME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mikey
