  1. LOL, I wish I knew! That is a question for the department/director. It might be worth reaching out to them now and asking if that seems like something that would be important to you.
  2. @hannahkv I think 6k might be an overestimate but I didn't keep track. I think the ATI system was about 2.5k which they did not warn us about before admission. One piece of advice, they will tell you that you must buy an expense stethoscope for clinical, but you honestly don't. The cheapy ones work great and no one at clinical cares what brand you have. Also, I would wait to buy the textbooks. You can often find a PDF version somewhere for free. I personally have rarely ever used textbooks (MedSurg, OB, etc.), and there are some books included with ATI. The schedule gets fairly stable a couple of weeks in, but that is of course if they were able to place you at a clinical site. Our group got shuffled around this semester so we didn't start our peds rotation until week 7, it was a ****show. There is NO SIM lab. We do get an extremely small amount of time in "skills lab", but this semester our "lab class" has been like 90% lecture. This is probably my biggest complaint about the program because it is something that could have been easily done.
  3. From a 2022 ABSN student: Congrats to those who got in. You have accomplished something amazing, remember this day because you will need to remind yourself of it when you are in the thick of care plans and finals. For those who didn't get in and are still waiting to hear, please keep trying, getting into a competitive program is not what will make you a good nurse. It is your drive, your passion, and your heart. Keep on going! I just wanted to chime in about our overall experience of the program (2022 cohort). We have been extremely disappointed with the poor communication, organization, and overall education. I honestly feel I would have gotten a better education pretty much anywhere else. I know everyone complains about their program but the ABSN program is an entirely different level of crazy. We have barely had any time to practice in the skills lab, we do not get to use the simulation lab at SFSU or CSM, and we are constantly being asked to pay for extra things or change our schedules at the last minute.....I could go on and on. I am not trying to talk any of you out of SFSU, it might still be a good choice for you because of time, cost, or location. But I do want you to be prepared and know what to expect. Stick with your cohort, support each other, and advocate for your education.
  4. Hi Hannah, I am happy to talk offline about pursuing midwifery in the bay ([email protected]). If you want my opinion, I think if your goal is to be a CNM, I would just go straight into a direct-entry CNM program. It will save you some time and then you can guarantee your wanted specialty. Email me and we can chat more details.
  5. They said they will be sending out waitlist spots after the 10th. So hopefully you will hear on Monday! Keep the faith ?
  6. Hi everyone, just wanted to share my stats! Stats: Undergrad GPA: 3.76 Pre-req GPA: 4.00 TEAS: 87.4% Healthcare Experience: - 2 years as Student Midwife -1.5 years as Case Manager at Planned Parenthood
  7. I don’t have facebook but I could make a little fake one to connect if needed. Can’t wait to meet you all! Good luck to everyone who is still waiting to hear back. Don’t give up! ♥️
  8. @Keelinmcg I wouldn’t worry yet because they haven’t gotten through all of the waitlist yet. There is still hope for you!
  9. I know! It feels like torture that they have made us wait so long! I don’t think there will be any campus housing in San Mateo because it’s at the community college but they might have some in SF. However, housing prices in San Mateo are a little bit cheaper than SF so it might be best just to rent a room in San Mateo. ?‍♀️ I hope they give us a decision soon so we can plan our lives!
  10. That is so disappointing. Last year people were being notified in mid March. ?
  11. Me too! I am so happy tomorrow is the start of April.....we are getting closer!
  12. Congrats to everyone who got accepted to CSUSM!! SFSU was my first application and my top choice. I am finishing up my application for Samuel Merritt this week as well.
  13. WOW really! That is so soon! I thought it started in June for some reason but I can't remember where I saw that.
  14. Hi there! I am so anxious to hear back. Am I the only one checking email 30 times a day?? :P I live in San Mateo. I can literally see CSM from my window. I know that doesn't help you at all but I think the Hayward/San Mateo bridge will be the easiest route. I wish I could help. Wishing everyone the best of luck. Hope we will all be meeting real soon :)
