how long for license?
Hi shehak20000! I applied for a RN license by endorsement in Ohio as well, in March this year 2021. How long did your license end up taking? It has been 4 weeks and my license status just says submitted and hasn’t changed. I am getting worried because I have a job and I’ll be devastated if I get terminated because the Ohio board doesn’t approve my application in time. Their phone line is not active right now because of the pandemic and no one will respond to my emails, so I’m at a loss. I would appreciate any help you can provide!

That is all really cool; you definitely deserve a spot in the program! At the moment I only have an ADN (enrolled in a 1 yr BSN program), I didn't get a senior practicum because of the pandemic, and I have no experience as a CNA or PCT. I have worked in childcare and with kids and parents for over 7 years and had a clinical rotation in PEDs, so I was hoping that would make up for the other stuff, but it seems like clinical experience in PEDs is much more valuable than other work experience with kids. Thank you for the insight, and best of luck at the interview!

Do all of you have a BSN? Did you get a practicum in PEDS and have you worked with kids in other settings? I'm trying to gauge how competitive these peds residency programs are as I start applying for more!

I haven't gotten anything, but I'm so happy for you guys!! Let me know how the interviewing goes! I'll let you guys know if I receive an email, but I'm not too hopeful!

Knightkr, I haven’t heard anything! If they get hundreds of apps it seems crazy to me that they could get through them in like 4 days, but the email they sent after we sent our apps said they were reviewing from the 15-19! I haven’t fully lost hope, but I’m definitely not holding out for it.

Yeah it sounds like you stand a good chance between the PICU practicum and having a referral! I was supposed to have a practicum in PICU, but my school transitioned us to a virtual preceptorship due to COVID which definitely sucks. I was hoping my experience in child care would help me out, but the more I read it seems so competitive and so based on clinical experience which I do not have that much of! Definitely not feeling confident about getting an interview, but keep me updated if you do! Also thanks for the tip about Harborview; I will definitely look into that.

Knightkr, Yes, I think you just don't hear anything if you don't get an interview! Makes me feel like there must be hundreds of applicants if they really can't reach out to let you know you haven't been chosen. I was feeling confident because of my childcare background, but I'm also getting discouraged since it has been a few days! And yes I agree that if we're not contacted by Friday, we probably weren't chosen. Are you based out of Seattle? I have never even been, but I am just really passionate about PEDs and trying to get in anywhere I can, and Seattle Children's seems like such a great hospital. Have you applied to any other PEDs residency programs or know of any other good ones? Thanks for starting this thread!

Seattle Children's New Grad RN Residency May 2021
Hello everyone, I just found this thread. I also applied for the May 2021 Seattle Children's cohort! Have you guys heard anything back about an interview? I was hopeful that I would get one because even though I only got 56 hours of PEDS clinical due to COVID and I am applying from out of state, I've been an in home child care provider for over 7 years, so I really feel like I have a lot of knowledge and experience to bring to the table for pediatrics, but I can't seem to get an interview anywhere. Has anybody heard anything? I know they say the program is competitive but I'm wondering how competitive like how many people apply vs. how many interview vs. how many get a spot. I hope you guys get a spot, let me know!
