I got accepted last year and we didn’t hear until kind of late. I want to say I got the email around 6pm EST or something!

I'm sorry! That is super frustrating. It might be worth reaching out to someone to ask if that was the reason, though. I would imagine that it had more to do with the fact that they've already made decisions at this point and have enough people on the waitlist? I was considering applying late to the last cycle and was basically told by admissions there was no point for the reasons above. There could still be a chance for the next round if you apply early!
