  1. Has anyone signed up for/completed their CPR courses yet? I’m specifically looking for information about McMaster, but I suspect the requirements are the same or similar. Whwrw specifically have you signed up and what is the name of the course? I have found that almost everyone that offers these courses has several that are HCP level and include BLS/AED. The issue is some are 4 days and include full first aid and others are 6 hours and just cover CPR w AED/BSL. I plan on e-mailing to confirm what is required, but just looking for insight from anyone who has any information. Thanks!
  2. I had this as well! My letter showed up on Mosaic after about 24 hours (of total panic LOL). My conditions were just to send proof of degree conferred from where I did my undergrad - actually my letter said a degree from a university I didn’t attend and I got to be stressed for a bit longer but turns out it was a mistake. I don’t believe they ever actually emailed me the letter, I just kept checking Mosaic. Hang in there!
  3. Officially accepted McMaster, which also means someone on the Queens waitlisted is getting in! There should also be another spot available Nipissing soon (my offer expires next week - I forgot to cancel it when I switched from Queens to McMaster but I’ll go in as soon as OUAC unlocks). Good luck everyone! I know the acceptance letter from Mac said they were doing an official discord eventually, does anyone know if someone has also made a facebook group or anything for McMaster?
  4. Not at all! I think I maybe already posted it but if I remember correctly it was about a 3.8 in my last 10 credits (regular scale not UofT). I got accepted last Monday ? My offer expires this Thursday though which is why I'm looking for people's personal thoughts/opinions on the program
  5. For anyone choosing McMaster or strongly considering, how do you feel about the placements? I know some of the community placements were online last year and that makes me nervous. I know they also don’t cover all ages/population groups with their placements either - are there ways you are thinking about getting yourself that experience? (Ie externships) thanks so much, having a really tough time with decisions right now
  6. Hey Everyone! I’ve seen a lot of people here who are worried about what to do for the next year if they don’t get an acceptance. I just wanted to share a little bit of my background in case it’s helpful for anyone feeling lost or uncertain right now. I finished by BScH in 2019, and have spent the last year or so working as a receptionist in a medical centre. I would really encourage anyone who isn’t sure of what to do for the next year to look into this to fill time before reapplying. It’s excellent exposure to the health care environment and administration staff are very needed right now. Mostly they look for some kind of health related degree or experience, and experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software. I volunteered before in clinics so I had a bit of experience with EMR previously, but I mostly just found videos on the internet. I’ve used this as an opportunity to save up some money for nursing and to get experience working with EMR, interacting with patients, and learning a lot about how the medical system in Ontario works (referrals, diagnostic imaging, prescriptions etc). I really do believe this experience helped with both CASPer and strengthening my overall application. I also work directly with a team of nurses, nurse practitioners, and doctors so I’ve been able to get some great insight and experience working as part of a medical team. A lot of positions will list 1-2 years experience or a certificate in Medical Administration as a requirement but don’t let that discourage you from applying! If anyone has any questions about this, feel free to reach out! (I’m sure others have also worked in similar positions as well as I had a lot of friends who did this during their undergrad) Wishing everyone good luck with their applications! Hope this helps!
  7. I’d love to hear from anyone who is accepting/has Nipissing has their first choice. I know there’s been some discussion but I would love to hear someone’s personal insight/what swayed them to make their decision ?
  8. Is anyone here deciding between Queens/McMaster? I have been holding onto my Queens offer since March, but McMaster is a lot closer to where I live now. Love the class size and placements at Queens but trying to decide if the move is worth it.
  9. Just jumping on here to say that the first-time NCLEX pass rate in this post not super accurate. I'm not going to go look for it now but you can find it posted and it falls in line with the other programs. Otherwise, super helpful and informative!
  10. Thanks! This is exactly what mine looks like, good luck and hopefully good news soon!
  11. For those of us waiting to hear back from McMaster, does anyone else’s Mosaic still say “complete admission requirements” (I know this was an issue a while back, but wanting to know if this is still normal/if others have the same thing.
  12. I also got accepted yesterday, but it was late like at 8pmish so I think they maybe came a little later yesterday ?
  13. It’s for people who had a course rejected as a prerequisite, UofT sometimes will offer you the chance to take a make up course as long as the course is completed by July 15 (not June, I realized I mixed it up)
  14. Thank you!! This was amazing! I’m working full time right now so this whole process has been a bit overwhelming but this community is amazing ❤️ Do you happen to know if we will be eligible for conditional offers once enrolled or if we have to wait until July to see if there are spots left? Thank you again and good luck to everyone navigating this process! (And congratulations to those who’ve been accepted!)
  15. This makes a lot more sense, I can’t find the webpage anymore (the panics we put ourselves in during this process). I did email but I got an out of office until next Tuesday response, so just wanting to make sure. Still looking for the webpage but I will let everyone know when I hear back incase anyone else is in the same boat.
  16. For those of you who had a prerequisite rejected and are required to retake it to be considered for UofT, did they indicate when the courses need to be completed by? I know for Athabasca you have to register by May 10th to start June 1st and the Bloomberg website says transcripts are due by June 15th which seems a bit unrealistic. (For anyone curious my second humanities credit in Latin Studies was rejected to prevent future applicants from having the same issue as me - even though the course covers Roman culture/history it won’t be considered)
  17. Do you know if it was recorded?? I was supposed to go but ended up having to work late
  18. Congratulations!! I just got an offer as well! FYI I haven't got an e-mail yet, my status just updated through the application portal for anyone who is waiting to hear back ? Good luck everyone!
  19. I e-mailed someone in admissions as none of my prerequisites are marked as received yet and this is what I was told. The Admissions team is still working through approving prerequisites, but as long as you submitted your transcript and course summary form by February 8th, you should be good!
  20. I am not sure about Humber/UNB specifically, however, I had a part-time semester in my last ten and spoke to a few schools about this specifically. When I e-mailed a few other programs about how the calculation would be done, they said they included the minimum number of semesters to reach the full 10. Basically, the idea being that if you don't have the full 10 credits from your 4 semesters (I.e. 9.5 credits or less), they will take the full fifth semester rather than just a course of two from that semester - even if it puts the total slightly over 10. Sorry, I don't know specifically about Humber, but hope this helps!
  21. Of course, I'm an external applicant somewhere around a 3.8 in the last 10 credits (4.0 scale, not UofT). My cGPA is a little lower at 3.75ish?
  22. I believe I applied in early October and wrote CASPer in early January
  23. Congrats on your acceptance!! I'm in the same position - I also got accepted to Queen's, and the placements there seem more suited to where I want to end up in nursing, but York is closer geographically. So just deciding between those programs at the moment ?
  24. Not sure yet, lots of factors to consider, and still waiting to hear from some other programs. The last date to accept the offer is March 8th though, so if I decide not to accept shouldn't be too long a wait for anyone waiting to hear back ?
