  1. I decided to pursue my MSN with a specialization in education and it was the best decision ever! I recently graduated in September 2020, and by November of last year I was hired for a clinical instructor position at a local community college. I really enjoy teaching the students and sharing all the knowledge I've learned along the way. For me it's very rewarding to see them understanding the concepts of nursing and being able to implement the skills with real patients. I recently learned that every student in my class passed their boards and are licensed nurses, so that makes it all worth it!!
  2. I have been selected to move forward for an interview with the president of the college for a FT nurse faculty position. I'm so nervous and don't want to mess this up. What can I expect in this final interview? What questions might be asked? Any help appreciated! Thanks
  3. Thanks for the advice! I can definitely relate to being comfortable and finding change hard. I am so hard on myself at times even though I know I can do it. I should find out soon if I'm selected for the position.
  4. I appreciate your response. The nursing faculty are great and teaching my specialty is definitely a pro. I'm just feeling nervous about a new transition or the possibility that a more experienced nurse educator gets the job over me. I intend on submitting my application this week either way.
  5. You might have already interviewed but for someone who may find this thread... I was recently interviewed for an adjunct clinical instructor and the questions asked were straightforward. I was asked what teaching methods I would utilize in the clinical setting? How would I handle disputes between students, or staff and what actions would I take? How would I handle a "difficult student" or situation? My favorite, why did you choose nursing education? There were a few more but these were the memorable ones! I gave honest answers and if I didn't know exactly what to say, I thought back to personal experiences while either in nursing school or as a bedside nurse. The interview process is not meant to be difficult but the facility does want to make sure you'll be a good fit for their team.
  6. Novice Nurse Educator with about 6 months of teaching experience in an adjunct clinical instructor role. I was recently informed that a FT faculty position has opened up at the community college and the director personally asked me to consider applying. I feel humbled that I would be considered a candidate given my tenure, however I feel as if I don't have enough teaching experience yet. One of the theory courses that would be taught is my specialty, but I was also informed I'd be team teaching peds which I don't have a background in (only from nursing school). I really enjoy teaching clinical but I feel that this opportunity may not come again for a while due to high retention rate at this college. I'm definitely nervous about starting FT but also think that eventually I'll have to take the chance and get the experience. I worked so hard to get to this point in my life and I feel stuck now. Any suggestions or similar experiences to share?
  7. We had a PPH (postpartum hemorrhage) simulation scenario today and the students really enjoyed it. The role reversal scenario is a good idea and I'm sure they'd get a kick out of it! I found a ppt for online jeopardy but we'll probably do that on the last day of clinical as a fun refresher.
  8. While I prefer group activities, COVID-19 has placed limitations on that. Several students worry about getting too close to one another. I'm searching for some online nurse games now. That may keep them engaged and they wouldn't need get to close to each other to participate. Any suggestions on websites?
  9. I'm a recent graduate and newly hired clinical instructor at a community college. Looking for advice or recommendations on group activities related to maternal nursing to help keep my students engaged and to help them use critical thinking. I have arranged for them to watch some videos, and they will have simulation with the mannequins. We'll have 2 days in clinical each week so any help is appreciated!
