  1. don’t do it. please don’t. you will not like school or your life. go get an associates then work your way up and save yourself. source: am a student here in semester 4
  2. I was once in your shoes, before starting the DEMSN at Marquette. I regret doing this program. It has been awful. Having a bio degree, I could’ve taught patho & pharm better than the professors I had. We are getting screwed over with clinicals. They do NOT care about you as a student. They just see someone who will pay them. Don’t go here. Strongly reconsider doing a DE program in general. I wish I would’ve gone for my associates and worked my way up from there.
  3. I work on a Medical & Oncology floor so no need to educate me on the practices for common infections in immunocompromised patients. No where did I say that we need to prepare our hospitals to expect to be exposed to everything out there. I do live in the world of reality hun, which is why our department of infectious disease has an important role when we cannot quickly determine what a patient has because it isn't a common infection ?
  4. Thanks for your input. I have noted that some employers do have a preference for someone who has a BSN versus someone who doesn't. I may talk to my CNL and see what he thinks.. I guess I'm more worried about not having it and not being able to get a job I want rather than take what I can get I suppose. Another thing I have on my mind.. Alverno offers around 720 clinical hours while Marquette offers around 1020. What is your opinion on the number of clinical hours offered? Do you think 720 will be enough?
  5. Alright, I have been accepted to both Marquette and Alverno DEMSN. Alverno awards you with both a BSN and an MSN, while you get a RN licensure from Marquette and a MSN. Does anyone know if when applying for beside RN jobs, preferably at hospitals, if having the edu from Marquette vs. Alverno are equally competitive? I like Marquette slightly better but I also need to be sure that I will be able to find a bedside nursing job fairly soon after graduate to get experience before practicing as an NP. If anyone has some insight it is greatly appreciated!

  7. No. There are many many things out there that are worse than covid and carry much higher death rates. Ever heard of prions? Look into some of the fungal and bacterial species that we have no drugs for. Ebola even has a higher death rate. Just because you don’t see these things in your specialty, especially seeing as you work in oncology and not something like an ICU, does not provide you the expertise to say that covid is the worst thing out there. Not trying to challenge your credibility, but there are many many more things in the literature that I would take covid over. As for the rest of you, I have been admitted to Alverno and am waitlisted for the fall, but for sure in for Spring! Can’t wait to start!
  8. Hello to all you out there, anyone who was accepted to the program able to share their experiences so far? I am looking into the 2021 Summer cohort at Marquette and am trying to hear from student in the program!
  9. I have just applied to Alverno and they are reviewing my application for fall 2021 DEMSN. I have heard such mixed reviews about this college and I don't know what to think. Have you been in touch with any current DEMSN students? Anything I should know?
