finally someone responded, thank you! I don't seem to be able to pm you so messaging here, apologize in advance I don't want to hijack the thread. Yes we are outside the states in the Caribbean and these are our machines, we just have so many questions. Just basic logistical stuff - so for example since these are made for home use, there are alot of onscreen prompts and so its harder to move from screen to screen, every single step you have to press "Done" and then "confirm"...so unless you follow the steps and do this, its easy to get lost in the steps, its hard to know when to move from prime to test to recirc to when ready for the patients because of all the prompts. Any tips/troubleshooting for passing test. Its just so many onscreen prompts its hard to know what screen is best to stay on to get thorugh the stringing/setup phase. I know the prompts are meant to help, but actually its just making screen setup so much "busier" and more confusing. We're never sure when the set up is completely finished and we can set patient up on machine. Please remember, we've had no training on this specific machine. Hi everyone, our small unit will be starting to use the fresenius 2008k@home dialysis machines. We need assistance in learning basic set up of the machine - rinse, stringing up to hooking up the patient. If anyone could please offer any assistance, we are hoping to get a video that we could use as a team for learning and teaching. Any advice would be helpful, thank you. Hi Iluvivt, thank you so much for responding. I brought a couple needles home to practise, so I see the brand its "Insyte Autoguard BC Pro". Most hospitals in my area that don't use nexiva, use this brand. Please any help you can give would be so appreciated. I think also I'm gonna have to spend the bucks and take a refresher, because the refresher courses often use this needle for practise. Thank you!

Hi everyone, I have been working in a diagnostic clinic for over 2 years now which exclusively uses Nextiva IV's. I hated it at first because I was so used to straight angiocaths and found them easy to thread because as soon as I got flashback I'd just advance a little and then flush it in. Today I was working on the floors and another floor called asking for help for an IV start, however the used the old angiocaths and I was having difficulty - missed twice and then abandoned. I felt so deflated, and apologized and left. I just found the straight angiocath so "loose", like the catheter was so loose on the needle that I had no control and things were moving around too much. Both times I got in the vein and my technique was off and it blew. Once I got in the vein I was having a hard time slipping the catheter off the needle. On my second try the catheter was definitely filling with blood, but I think I continued to advance the needle with the catheter and something went wrong, when I clicked back the needle the blood wouldn't advaance anymore and it was blown when I flushed. Its hard to beleive that the system I used to love so much for how "easy" it was to flush the catheter forward now has become so slippery, loose, and sloppy for me, especially how hard the nextiva was at first for me to get the hang of it. Hopefully someone can please help me where I might be going wrong. Thank you!

Reaching out to other dialysis nurses to see if anyone knows where to purchase dialysis supplies and accessories in bulk for a small clinic (not in the US)...finding it hard to find dialysis suppliers unless they are supplying to a really big company. Any help would be much appreciated thank you -
