  1. Thanks for the replies and links. Not offended, I appreciate you trying to get your point across but I’m still not understanding. As I said in my original post, I realize it’s approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing: I don’t understand however you point that BON approval = ACEN accreditation. You say that it is ACEN approved but in the very last link you sent it says that LA CONAH is, “a candidate for initial accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing,” which to my understanding would mean they are not currently accredited by the ACEN but might be after July 12th, 2023. All of this stuff is new to me and I’m just trying to understand if going to this school, which to the best of my understanding is a candidate for ACEN accreditation but not currently accredited, could impact my future career or education opportunities.
  2. Thank you so much for checking but I’m confused where you see that they are ACEN accredited, I’m pretty sure they are not. It’s not on their website and when I looked up ACEN accredited schools in CA on the ACEN website, LA College of Nursing and Allied Health does not show up. Really I’m just wondering how important it is that an associates program has this, especially if you ever want to work out of state. It doesn’t seem like very many associates programs are accredited by ACEN and I can’t find any in Los Angeles that are.
  3. How about ACEN accreditation? I've read threads that say to "run away" from any program that doesn't have one of these accreditations and don't understand why, ADN programs included.
  4. One of the programs I am applying to is an ADN program (Los Angeles County College of Nursing and Allied Health) that is approved by the CA BRN and is regionally accredited by WASC. However, I keep reading about the importance of CCNE accreditation and they don't have that. I'm wondering if that could be a problem if I ever want to work as an RN in another state. If I go to this program I most likely would eventually do a BSN bridge program at a college that is CCNE accredited. They have a partnership with another local University so that shouldn't be a problem. I'm really confused about the importance of these different accreditations at different levels of schooling and how it could impact me down the line. What impact does accreditation have on getting licensed out of state or getting higher degrees? If I want to enroll in an NP Program some day should I be paying attention to ADN accreditation?
  5. it might depend on your EFC? My EFC was really low so they offered me tons of loans that would cover tuition and living expenses. No grants though ?
  6. Mine also says incomplete. I was getting the register to vote message too, but I logged in on my phone and was able to click through some messages to get to the student center page.
  7. I actually just got a confirmation yesterday. My application arrived there on the 12th so it takes a little bit! I bet you will get yours soon. Hoping they send out more interview invites soon too.
  8. Did everyone who got an interview invite also get a confirmation that their application materials had arrived? Wondering which to hope for first!
  9. Wow, how early did you apply? Still waiting on my confirmation email too but they only received it on Tuesday. When are they offering interviews?
  10. I got one before I even applied so I don't think they have anything to do with acceptance.
  11. That sounds so hard. Wishing the best for you and your cohort. Thank you for letting us know what is going on!
  12. Oh wow. That makes a lot more sense why they are not accepting new applicant then. It sounds like your cohort had the biggest shock to deal with. Will you all be starting in the fall then?
  13. Wow, just saw this. I'm surprised they are cancelling. I would think the vaccination process would be well underway by Fall 2021 and they could handle a new class.
  14. I just double checked the wording on that question and it says, "Please indicate what influenced you the most to apply to the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing?" It's in the Sources of Contact section where you check boxes about how you heard of them. Pretty sure it's aimed more for admissions to get an idea of how they can tailor their outreach; I doubt it will have any sort of impact on your application. If you're really worried about it, maybe try emailing admissions?
  15. I’m pretty sure it won’t close at 12:00AM. I’m in the same boat with someone finishing their letter submission tomorrow.
  16. Yes to two waves. Not sure when the second one will be, probably March? I thought that those who applied early would have a better chance of getting in, but when I asked the admissions staff they said there is no difference in chances. They will weigh your application the same, whether you applied early or not.
  17. I appreciated hearing a few different perspectives. Thank you @DC_RN and @botmann
  18. JHUSON has felt a little scammy at times. I actually had to make sure they weren't a for-profit school early in the application process, because all of their mailers, emails, and admissions events felt a little off. I think part of the problem is that it is incredibly difficult to get into nursing programs. Where I am in California, admissions stats are often 10% acceptance at state schools. Even community colleges are difficult to get into and you're left to rely on a lottery system for admission. I think JHU said they accept something like 35% of their Entry MSN applicants. For some of us, expensive private schools might be the only ones we get into. I was hoping that getting a nursing degree at JHU would have some benefits that a smaller public program might not have. Access to research or anything like that? I know entry level BSNs and MSNs make the same, but if any current or former JHU students could say if they felt like they had more opportunities, that would be good to know.
  19. Thanks for the advice. Did it seem like everyone in your cohort took on that much debt (ignoring those whose parents/spouses paid)? JHU scholarships didn’t bring anyone under 50k?
  20. You all included yours transcripts in the packet too? I wish I had known about double sets of transcripts I would have to send before taking prerequisites at so many different schools. This is going to be an expensive application ? Also did you ask your LOR writers to print on official letterhead? I'm hoping that is possible for mine given that they're working from home during the pandemic!
  21. Hello, just wondering for those who were already accepted, how long do they give you before you need to make a decision? I will be applying for the fall 2021 start but I'm not sure if I should apply for the early deadline on November 1st or wait until the later deadline since I won't be hearing back from other schools until Feb-March. Is the priority deadline more aimed at those who are positive they want to go to JHU?
  22. I just submitted mine today! I was really procrastinating on that video interview... I've never been to Philadelphia but I'm super excited about Penn and starting to get excited about Philly too. I'm tempted to apply to some other school in the area. Is Thomas Jefferson a good school for those who also like research? I've only considered Drexel as an alternative so far.
  23. I watched one of the webinars and they said that if you choose to do a second video, the first one gets deleted.
