  1. They are all standard and have to be a certain way. It will be QC'ED by the recruiting office, battalion, and health services directorate. Nothing to know or worry about.
  2. I'll let others answer most of the questions for accuracy. I typically have 3 sets of OCP's. I usually wear the same set for 2 days. when you Inprocess you should get an appt with deers (everyone will) and you will put their address in at that time when they are being added to the system. They will need birth certificates, marriage license, etc. I can't remember if these will come up organically from your initial entry paperwork (probably not) but again others in the chat can let you know.
  3. Ultimately you are responsible for paying for your uniforms. I used to take folks to get uniforms when I was a recruiter but I'm not sure how others have gone about it. You will end up getting a x1 clothing allowance of I believe 600....it won't be enough. You will wear your camouflage uniform (OCP's) daily until phase 2. You should get BAH (housing allowance) at the with dependent rate if you have children, or are married. They will all get enrolled in tricare and you will have to set their location to wherever they are. I have never personally done it but you should be able to call tricare and change their location. When you enroll them in San Antonio you will need to also make sure their address is correct in DEERS. (Sorry we have lots of acronyms). there are a couple types of insurance plans some with out of pocket cost and some without. I am not the expert on it but they are tricare prime and select. I can give a general overview on these topics but the nuance of them I can't. You certainly will need to ensure you have all the needed documents to enroll them in deers asap. Others who have been recently can probably provide a little more detail.
  4. I will echo all of these comments. I used apple products exclusively and had no issues at all. Highly recommend a tablet of some sort. I also used notability and recorded some lectures so I could listen to them while grocery shopping etc. the tablet was nice for reading while also walking in the treadmill etc. however, my buddy just had a laptop and it was fine. everyone is different but my battle rhythm was to take Friday after class off. Study Saturday and Sunday morning. Meet my friends at the climbing gym and climb then quiz each other endlessly until we were perfect.
  5. It has been so long since I have helped someone with the initial entry PCS. I know there are still some folks in the chat that are recent who may chime in (hopefully). This has definitely been addressed in last years chat if it's still in the ether. that being said your recruiter should be able to help with the transportation office once you get cut orders. You will move to San Antonio and then go to fort sill Oklahoma for DCC (direct commission course) which is about a month. Then back to San Antonio for BOLC (basic officers leadership course). Then start phase 1 still in San Antonio. that's the vague order. I believe folks usually leave at the end of January or early February unless I am remembering incorrectly.
  6. I think that really goes to show that when they get a ton of packets that all look the same it's those optional things that are going to be discriminators. congrats, nice to see all those folks who did the extra work be rewarded.
  7. Thank you for sharing. And good on you for taking steps to make it happen. Lots of folks take a no and just leave it at that. just FYI for anyone else, unless things have changed your meps physical is good for two years
  8. Congratulations to those who were accepted. Just for my own curiosity: did anyone get accepted who also applied last year? thanks
  9. It is my opinion that the ccrn is a must. GRE is not required but if you score well it will help. Your interview is very important. civilians will process through a medical recruiting station (not a normal recruiting station), complete the required documents, conducts a phase 2 interview and do a physical at meps. If selected by usagpan you will get orders to report to San Antonio and commission as an officer by your recruiting station. (movers can be arranged to get your stuff). Find the housing of your choice in SA or apply for on base housing. You will leave SA for a month to complete DCC in Oklahoma (the first military etiquette course) then return to SA to complete basic officers leadership course while living at your SA residence. Then you start usagpan. First year is classroom and sim/lab instruction. Second two years are at one of the phase 2 sites. Almost completely clinical. that's the most concise straightforward response I can provide. I am not part of usagpan so my advice is my own and just a recommendation.
  10. That's a question for your recruiter (who may have to look into it). I would try to complete meps as fast as possible. That's the thing that usually holds people up.
  11. You will be allotted a certain amount of travel days based on mileage, likely will get some time to take leave and typically you get 10 days of authorized non chargeable house hunting. There is usually a specific report date so you can all inprocess together.
  12. Remember to enjoy your holidays and spend a lot of time with your family. Find an outlet you enjoy as well. We would go to the bouldering gym (armadillo boulders) every Saturday and then study after.
  13. The PHA thing is for prior service. People coming from the civilian side will go the meps for a physical once approved. You'll fill out a questionnaire to see if you have any medical issues that need to be looked into and have substantiating documents for. Once approved you can get a physical with them. It's kind of a pain tbh. Otherwise they'll collect normal docs. Social sec, birth cert, CV in a specific format they will give you. Stuff like that.
  14. Ooof that's a question I couldn't answer. I would try and reach out to the Baylor contact and ask for the question to be forwarded to usagpan. I'm sure that's something they will have to think about.
  15. Hrc does what it does. Don't worry you will get orders. Be patient, and for your mental sanity just make sure your commissioning packet passed QC. Once that happens your recruiter has no visibility unless things have changed since I was in that position
  16. I wouldn't worry. Just ask your recruiter to let you know when it passes QC just for your awareness. It's an uncomfortable feeling waiting for orders but once that QC is done you'll know that you don't need to do anything else and your 100% on track.
  17. Once you sign the contract your recruiter will forward the paperwork to health services directorate to make sure there are no errors. Once through they will send your info to HRC (human resources command) for orders. It'll take a while.
  18. Whoever you processed with is who you should be signing with. However if there are extenuating circumstances a different office can be facilitated if there is enough advance.
  19. Reach out to your recruiter. You have to have a release to contract. You are either pending something to be completed before that release or they just haven't been sent yet and it's a waiting game.
  20. Typically you rank them and submit to usagpan faculty. However, hrc has the final say. There are certain considerations that complicate things such as MACP (dual military) and EFMP (for service members with specific family issues. Such as a family member that has a medical condition that must be considered). I trained in El Paso and it was fantastic. There was only 1 out rotation that was not local. We did about 1K cases a piece.
  21. You have to sign your contract once released to do so by health services directorate. Then await orders. as long as their are no issues I would start brainstorming where you are going to live in San Antonio. I don't have any recommendations except probably not living far away. (I don't recommend the alcove at Alamo heights ?) maybe others have recommendations. I wouldn't sign a lease or anything until you have your orders in hand just for peace of mind
  22. Congrats to those who got in. Make sure to spend lots of time with your family before leaving and just enjoying life. if you didn't make it this time remember to stay hungry, keep applying for programs. There were a lot of applicants this year.
  23. The phase 2 interview is your Baylor interview. Phase 2 directors are faculty. Usagpan is the Baylor reviewing panel.
  24. You guys are also competing with the active duty population so it's going to be a rough day on Baylor selection. But congrats on the first step you met the army qualifications ??
