  1. Hi all! I'm a provisional admit and #5 on the waitlist for this Fall '23 cohort in San Mateo. Luckily, if things do not work out, I have admission for Spring '24. However, Samuel Merritt is my last resort as it's an earlier start date than other ABSN programs/ ABSN is already limited here in NorCal. I was wondering from the current/ graduated students if working part-time is doable? I've heard many students do per-diem jobs and that works out. As for those who moved out to be closer to the school how is that? I know rent is pricey in they bay ? Just trying to get a sense of some things as I'm somewhat already in the dark with finding out one of the advisor's for San Mateo is no longer employed anymore and it takes very long to hear back from staff unless you reach out to them... Especially regarding the waitlist updates I always had to email first about it, but they mentioned they'd let me know whenever there was a change ?
  2. I would think we could also reach out to the sac advisor since he also deals with the ABSN program and general info. But yeah I'm still waiting on a response about whether there's a new advisor for the San Mateo campus
  3. Hi! I was also surprised bc I've been emailing that advisor only to find out that he is no longe employed. For any updates on the waitlist I been contacting the associate Dean. But he was out today and this morning so I'm expecting a reply back sometime tmo or the week.
  4. Hi guys! Do you know if there has been movement in the waitlist? Last time I had to email them but wondering if they've sent out emails
  5. Beginning of august when I was first told about being waitlisted. I didn't get any update until now when I had to email this morning asking if the waitlist had moved
  6. Hi guys! I just emailed the Associate Dean and he had let me know there was an update in the waitlist. I was originally placed #11 and now #5. I also reached out to a current student who just finished her first term of the ABSN program in San Mateo. She mentioned that there were 3 semesters, 9 terms, and each of those terms are 5 weeks long. Each term you'd be taking 2 classes. Her first term consisted of online zoom lectures and one in person skills lab once a week from 8-4, but each term the schedule changes as you'd be taking diff classes. Week 5-10 (second term), would be the heaviest since that's when you start clinicals on top of your two lectures, skills lab, and she mentioned that clinical could either be two 8 hr shifts or one 12 hr shift. Clinicals depends on what placement you get so there's the am shifts (6:30/7 am - 3 pm) or pm (3-11 pm). She also mentioned commuting is manageable as many commute 1-2 hours. But personally I don't think I'd want to commute as classes and clinicals are early in the morning and the morning traffic in the bay ain't no joke ?
  7. No, not yet. He mentions that the new student orientations would start beginning of October, so I'm assuming we'd receive the zoom link then other than accepting the offer!
  8. Hi guys! Just wanted to update that I got a provisional offer for admission for Fall '23 cohort in San Mateo. Still would need to attend orientation to maintain my status. But if no seat is open, I'll be guaranteed for Spring '24!
  9. Same here. I emailed few weeks ago and he responded saying I should hear within 10 business days and emailed again last Friday and just now got a response. I'm sure they're still going through applicants
  10. One of the advisors let me know last Friday that those who submitted their app from April 1 to June 1 should receive a response within 3 to 5 business days. Hope this helps
  11. Hi guys! I got waitlisted 11/11. Hoping it goes down so that I get accepted for sure. Do you guys know if in the case that I don't, would I be guaranteed a spot for the Spring sem?
  12. Oh I only applied for San Mateo which starts in November. But yeah, June deadline too. But for Spring I did San Mateo and Sac as secondary. Sac has different dates
  13. @futurenurse39 No, I haven't heard back yet. When I went to the Nursing Seminar in June I spoke to the advisor for San Mateo and he had told me mine might still be in review due to one of my references submitting their Letter of Rec later, pushing back my app. I then email recently and he replied on July 12th saying to expect a response/ decision within 10 business days. I still have not heard back at all ?
  14. Hi guys! Wondering if you guys also applied for the June deadline? Still haven't heard back but when I had attended the nursing seminar, (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) (advisor for San Mateo) had mentioned to me that it's still in review. I'm hoping I hear before the end of this month so it at least gives me a little more time to prepare
  15. Hi! I'm wondering if there are any previous or current students enrolled through the ABSN program and if they work or not? I know advisors recommend not to work but how about part-time? I know SMU offers work-study but are any prospective students planning to work as well? Jw.
